Thinking of getting some 3 gun matches going here in Manitoba.

Check the USPSA site.. they've released their 2013 Multigun rulebook.. follow it (or close approximation), use time plus scoring,,and have fun.. at the local level, divisions really don't really matter (there's no new car up for 1st place!) till someone brings a Saiga, or Tec Loaders (biggest time issue is shotgun reloads..),, semi versus pump shotgun, not a huge deal, still gotta reload 'em. big equalizer is limiting starting round count on initial load to 5 or less on shotguns..

In the new rules, there's fewer ways to abandon your firearm,, a good thing.. make sure there's no way anyone can get in front of a dumped firearm, dump tables don't work well, buckets do.. handgun abandon boxes need to be well though out so that no one gets in front of the muzzle..

I've always thought as long as the four universal rules of gun safety were used it doesn't matter what type of gun it is or how/where it's carried.

Agreed for the most part...but obviously rules are still needed, like no handling guns while people are down range, even if the four gun laws are followed

rules are still needed but frankly requiring "black badge" is a little silly.... a lot of people dont have access to it or the ability to keep it up to date. a good safety briefing before the event, and reinforcement during each course of fire is all that is needed. the use of dump buckets for pistols is great, and you can also finish the cof with pistol in hand so it is easy to clear and make safe.... no need to exclude holstered handguns.

things i would recommend excluding are slings on the longarms, make sure to spell out they need a strongside holster and i would also detail how low the grip can be if they are using drop leg holsters.... frankly the grips should not be lower then 1" below the belt, stop the guys with drop legs being worn on thier knee.

spell out that ALL safety devices and all retention devices must be used.

This is awesome. I appreciate the info. I think I'm going to skip the holster training in favor of starting unloaded and using a dump box.

reinforce the the go as fast as you can safely rule, your doing yourself a diservice not using holsters and loaded guns.... remember to reinforce that holstering is not on the clock and make the particpants do it slowly

above all have fun, try not to exclude anybody and if there is any prone or kneeling make that the last position in the stage of fire. watch some vtac videos, they have some great stuff as does 3gun nation and youtube.

Just wondering if anyone went to this match, and how it turned out.

I'm disappointed to say that due to training work has me in Toronto right now, and I wasn't in Manitoba at the time.
