Thinking of getting this rifle....

BUM,
Can't argue that shooting irons is easier, thats why F Class is so popular. You don't have to go all the way to Camp Perry to shoot target rifle. We do it right here in Canada and believe it or not Canada sends a team of 18 shooters to the UK every year to compete. Even the cadets send a team of about 20 to shoot target rifle in the UK.
Don't get me wrong, I love to hunt but punching holes in paper at 1000 yards is fun too.

I second what BUM said in that you so often see guy's forking out 3-4K on a nice tactical rifle and then put a 1K or less scope on the thing. No Sense at all.

I am all for great optics and reliable mechanicals. Otherwise a scope is useless.

However, saying you must spend so much to get performance is no longer reasonable. Actually, hasn't been for a decade.

The elite 3200 10X proved a few years back that you can get dead reliable mechanicals (better then some top dollar scopes) and useable optics for dirt cheap. Enough so that Barrett made it a standard factory option on their BMG's.

The now not so readily available Super Sniper is another example of fixed power scopes delivering superb performance for 'cheap'.

Today, we are blessed with products like the ELite 4200/6500, Nikon Monarchs, Sightron SIII that deliver super performance for way less money. In fact, some of these may just offer you better optics compared to scopes costing twice as much.

I compete with an Elite 4200, I can afford a NF no problem. I have my reasons.

Big price dags don't always deliver better scopes....or rifles.

Buyer beware...

Get yourself a savage 12fvss or a rem 700 sps and Get an Elite 4200 6-24x40. rings and bases and you will be about $1600 tax included.

Just because you spend $3000+ on a rifle doesn't mean it's worth it. adding a $3000 scope on top of that is pretty crazy as well. unless of course you have money to burn then get it and send me some of that love too;)

I should also point out that I shoot BPCR silhouette off crossed-sticks and my elbows (and off my hind legs at the chickens, if you can call my flailing, drive-by-shooting-esque technique "shooting") so the concept isn't completely foreign to me either.

It's no less fun, no matter what the choice of sights.

I've seen one exactly like this in 308 today at the range. Pretty good looking. The guy managed to put a 4.5" 5 hole group in MY target (100m). Out of the 5 holes, 3 stringed within 1". Not bad! With some practice he might even be able to punch better groups than my $500 Savage. :D

Well I bought my rifle, wile it wasnt a new 3000$ Sako or HS Tactical. I bought a Full Custom Reminigton 700 SA 308. 2500$
