As the title say's,I'm thinking of getting one of those tokarev copies, mod 54.Seems like it would be a fun little pistol, and surplus ammo cheap.Anyone here ordered from them recently, and is it fairly easy to do this through the mail??What should I expect for shipping $$ for a crate of the 7.62x25???Anyone willing to point or push me the right way!

I've had one and it was great! I even bought the 9mm conversion barrel too (you don't need 9mm mags) because 7.25x25 was in short supply at the time. Its a good investment for a cheap but very fun plinker.

BUT.....for a few dollars more you can have a real 1943 Russian Tok (or two; One to shoot and one to collect.)

I ordered 2 from Marstar late last year and a crate of 7.62 X 25 ammo. From what I was reading, if you get the 7.62 X 25 Tokarev and then put in a 9mm barrel, you have no problems. But if you buy the 9 mm Tokarev and then try to use the 7.62 barrel, you will need to change your mags as well. So to me, makes more sense to do as skeetgunner mentions and buy the 7.62 and the 9 mm barrel for it.

I would also agree that Soviet ones are probably better. Mine has jamming and tigger issues. I'd rather have one that was broken in properly, and if you are worried about the barrel, you can always replace it, Marstar has those for $100.00.

Thanx for the input guys,I checked out alot from the search function, and it seems guys love em or hate em.So figured I'll try my hand.I was more curious about the best way to go about getting one from marstar though.Did you deal direct with them,or with a local shop??I'm not a credit card kind of guy,so money order probably.fax,phone,e-mail them??

Just an update for the tok, called Marstar and they're out of the type 54 for now. They have the other ones listed np-17? and 201? but I'm not sure about those.I didnt want the ones with the add on safety, and besides, these are 9mm.Could a guy get a 7.62x25 barrel for one of these pistols,or perhaps I should buy different toys in the meantime and check back with them?
