thinking of joining the Savage 99 cult

Made sure I had my camera with me this morning to snap a few pics of the assembly and the next thing I know it's done.

Made sure it feeds all 5 rounds, just need to get to the range a test her.

I have a 1921 (savage forum date by serial#) 303 savage takedown with the straight stock and mag counter. Has the tang crack but it doesnt move when you try to flex the gun. Bluing has almost all faded to grey. Thinking about posting it on the ee once i determine its value. I do have some ammo for it so im going to how it shoots but i doubt ill keep it

Biggest thing to remember is both the front and back screws of the rotor are left hand threads.
These two vids were useful.

Once the rotor is out of the rifle, take the back nut off first, holding the front spinal with you fingers.
Also my spring didn't insert the same place his did, get a flashlight and look and mark with a felt pen to make it easier.
Also used a bit of locktight on the lock nut.
I found with everything well lubed 1/2 to 3/4 rotation was enough tension to have the last round feed (or first I guess) .

I was wondering when you might pop up. Beautiful rifles. What are specifics of the second one from the bottom? better yet what are the specifics for all of them. I'm drafting my Christmas wish list so I want to get it right!

Sorry, just saw that now, they're all in 300 Sav. L-R 99RS, 20-26 w Lyman sight, 99T and a post war 99R.

My one & only.... M99F in .308 Win. Bought it 'cause it was mfg same year I was born:

I once owned a stellar example of a Savage 99 in .243 with detachable magazine. It was a beautiful rifle that I didn't fully appreciate until after I sold it and began reading about them. It was one of the many that managed to get away.

I have only one Savage 99, a mid 1950's Featherweight in 308. . I bought the rifle quite a few years ago. I recall the only problem being a lazy ejection. . Ordered a new extractor, hand fitted it and extracts and kicks the empties out just perfect. .

I like the rifle, it shoots accurately, quick and easy to carry. . The older Bushnell Trophy sits real close down and comes in view right off. .

My father in law father, passed away in Nov. But he gave me his fathers Savage 99E. He was the cook of the Bluenose. Definitely a interesting rifle.
