Thinking of Sig, think again

Let me start by saying that the last thing I wanted to do was write this post...too bad.

I own three sig pistols. A 220, a 226 and a 228.

In April I phoned Sigarms to order a parts kit for my 226 and 228. I was told that sig was unable to ship to Canada due to Canadian law. Even though this is patently untrue (confirmed with Canada Customs and the CFC) I allowed them to steer me towards R.Nicholls. At the time I told them that dealing with R. Nicholls was akin to smashing your head against a brick wall. Well, I phoned R.N. and told them I needed to order a couple parts kits. They told me to deal with one of their retail distributors. After phoning all their BC distributors and coming up dry I phoned R.N. again. They apologised that I was unable to find anyone to order the parts and agreed to take my order. I gave them my creditcard number and they said it would be a couple of weeks (remember this is in April).
Six weeks and I phone, twelve weeks and I phone, eighteen weeks and I phone, 24 weeks and I phone...nada.Edit..It turns out that R. Nicholls still has my order in place but Sig hasn't shipped to them...did I mention Sig customer service SUCKS
Today I phoned Sigarms and explained the problem to them. Here's what they said...

1. Canadian law prevents them from shipping to anyone but R. Nicholls.
2. Sig considers that R. Nicholls is their ONLY customer in Canada, therefore, as long as they fill orders to R. Nicholls and R. Nicholls is happy there is NO PROBLEM.
3. Sig feels no responsibility in this matter and they have no plans to do anything about it.

'To Hell and Back Reliability'

Well, the only thing that I find reliable about a sig pistol is that if anything breaks or wears out T.F.S.

Time to post this on the Sig forum, maybe we can embarass them into action, I made mention of the issues without naming him as I have not dealt directly with him yet (gulp).

It will not look good for them to have this posted south side, can't really hurt anymore than it does already.

I would love a 229 SAS if I could. :)

Based on my repeated discussions with sig, 'There is no issue'. R. Nicholls is happy therefore Sig is happy. Remember, as far as Sig is concerned they only have one Canadian customer and it t'aint you or me.

As an interesting aside, the turnaround for service on Sig pistols with the VPD is 48 hours...must be nice to be 'a customer' as opposed to someone who ONLY purchased their Sig products:rolleyes:

I would suggest that as many of us as possible attend SHOT 2007 -- and physically approach SIG at SHOT and complain about R.Nicholls business habits.

BTW -- same issue for HK and Colt etc....

I actually got a part from R.Nicholls in 1999 -- a 20rd (UNPINNED) HK91 mag - 6 months after I had ordered a 5rd mag for my HK91...

I just drive to the US and buy my parts, declare them at the boarder, pay my duty...ta da...easy squeezy

Anything you need from Sig, call TSE, hands down. I called Sig about an armourers tool, they would not even ship me that. No problem, Brownells did. Sig knows that it is the US and not Canada, they are just trying not to piss off the powers that be. They are still a very good company to deal with as I am sure REDLEG will attest to.

yeah but what about HK? I have tried for months to get a barrel from R Nichols. Cant even get a price.

Just shows the mentality of this organization.

Sig is probably one of the more customer friendly companies...I ordered a replacement spring for my 226 a couple years back and they shipped it up here free.

Laws have changed and nobody wants to get into a customs ordeal so they just say no shipping to canada. I ordered 2 slings fromt he US and the dealer selling them wouldnt even ship here.

Lol.......sounds like to me that even Sig dosen't want to bother with R. Nicholls. Its bad enough that we have retarded firearms laws with out having R. Nicholls as the distributor for some of the best firearms you can buy. I think they were put in power by the liberals ;)

try and buy as much as possible legally in the US. Some small parts some vendors will ship no problem. Still I havent found a source for 9mm barrels, lots of .40s and other though for USPs.

R. Nicholls didn't want to sell me a blue gun, a G17. "You could paint it black and use it in a robbery"... yeah, that sounds like a great way to get shot by the cops, besides, why would I do that when I have a real G17 at home?? They didn't know what to say to that...

####ty service sucks.
In addition to KenivB's suggestion, which is an excellent way to get proper service:
If you could stomach another phone call to Sig I would try and reach a sales executive, a "director" or above, the more acronyms the better Sr. exec VP deluxe etc etc. WAIT, you will not likely get him on the phone, but you will get his full name & title. At the very least the name of his assistant... write a letter to him and this may get the result you're looking for. Hopefully you have the name(s) of the robots you spoke to prior.

Good luck

contact Todd Louis Green at Sig, he ain't in charge of civy stuff, but he's a good #### and might be able to get some balls rolling.

Yeah, I'm sure TSE loves em.

Here's our tale of woe...

Last August we were approached by SigArms (yes, they came to us) with a basic offer to act as a Western Canada distributor. We were sceptical. However we played along and ordered guns and set up our price guide accordingly...

Then the fun and games began.... Back and forth, back and forth on whether they should or shouldn't sell us guns.

In the end they decided we were too much bother and told us to go away !!

We are currently sourcing our Sigs overseas and while we are trying to keep the prices down, we have had to make adjustments as we are no longer feeding directly from the trough

"We only have one customer in Canada and they're happy so there is NO problem" - Sig Customer Service Rep

Sorry but they remain TOTAL DICKS in my book....

Ive heard that the Sig reps are not only snotty but condescending in their tone when dealing with anyone other than Sig buyers.

Shame since their products are good. In future my pistol money will go to Glock.

comparing to WilsonCombat,LesBaer or STI, the sig's service is pretty bad. I sent a email for questions, got response slowly and pushed me around(they just let me make a phone call instead of answering my question).
