Thinking of trying a SXS??

After looking I am going to try to find a Savage Stevens 411 SXS if I can get my hands on one. I can't afford a more expensive sxs but I think this will be a decent starting point for me. My fall back will be the Remington SPR 210

The 20 is scaled framed?

The above question reminded me of a thread a while ago that I had initiated in ShotgunWorld where I had posed the question on 28ga frames.....the following are images that a member posted to also address another individual's query regarding the difference between 12/20 frames on Baikal/SPR SxS shotguns....

As I understand it the Baikal 20s were built on both 12 and 20 frames. However, I suspect the SPR210 20ga (including 28/410) were all on 20 frames. I had owned IZH-43s in 12 and 20 about 11 years ago and the 20 was built on a relatively smaller frame although the fore end used was the same size as a 12.

Note: The stock finish was an indvidual effort to meet personal standards I suppose....certainly not something found on out of the box Baikal guns! :)

There's a huge gap in the market for a reasonably-priced, durable side-by-side. Say $1600 with great durability, handling and no frills like fake case hardening. Chrome the receiver, scroll-engrave it at best.

Off-topic......

S&W's Elite Gold 20ga SxS (Turk made) had much potential in that scenario.....they likely bungled up their marketing plan and eventually discontinued production. As a result the fellows Stateside have been happily buying those off since the past little while at liquidation prices ranging from $900-$1300.

At CDN$1500-1600 range, the Elite Gold would been a very good value as it is a "round action" (trigger plate action) with bone/charcoal case color hardening. I have only seen a very initial example of a single trigger model here at a local gunshop and did not favor the price tag of $2300 at that point in time....I believe that the shotgun is still collecting dust with a current $2800 price tag.

Been watching them americans gobble them up ! What a great deal they have turned out to be in the clearance aisle, triggerplate actioned SxS's no less.

I just picked up the SPR 210 from Dante's, I'll post when I get it. For the price I won't complain much. Now looking for an O/U. I am thinking a Baikal Condor. Like I said I am not here to buy a 1200-2000 SXS or O/U I just want something to shoot that's not flashy and that most importantly not break the bank.

I think you mean an IGA Condor. Could be wrong.

I'm not so keen on those.

Sorry to disappoint, but I am no 'rookie'. Here is a simple test for you side by side fans. Point at something with your hand. Did you use two fingers 'side by side' (or even 'over under')? I bet you did not. The swing is the thing in shotgunning; why shove a 2x4 around (vertically or horizontally) when you can use a dowel? IMHO single barrels rule (and don't get me started regarding the perceived recoil reduction benefits of semi-auto shotguns; extra shot capability for hunting; lower price, etc.).

You really need to but the video games down for awhile and get out and see what the shotgun sport is all about. After those comments, I'm speechless.

Personally, I harbour no arguments against individual preference(s) concerning the use of any action type whatsoever as it is generally dependent on various factors.

Your statement, however, is very ill informed and highly immature to boot!
