Thinking on an mdt chassis for my tikka ctr, anyone running one?

Yes, I run an ESS and ACC, you will love it! Great way to go! I have zero issues with my MDT AICS pattern magazine on any of my rifles so no problems there!

I have a T3X Varmint in 308 in a HS3 chassis. It is a bit heavier than the LSS but love it for bench shooting. No problem with mags and accuracy is awesome. Only change is a Yo Dave spring to reduce the trigger pull. Still nice and crisp and well worth the money. Photo of the rig plus 5 shots at 100m.

i have a Tikka varmint in 300WM and have been thinking about the Oryx chasis (i believe its made my MDT but lower priced). This could be something to consider as well. Does anyone have any experience with this chasis yet?

I have the oryx and really like it. I have nothing to compare it to as this is my first chassis but i have no complaint for the money. It has made me want to convert all my guns to chassis systems

Yup! I have two, and probaly gonna be a 3rd in the next few months. Its a great way to go!

No concerns with the two peice design of the oryx? I guess the action screws for the rifle are likely the weak point anyway.

Oh another thing I was concerned about from my previous experience with the ruger gunsite, was the way the mag well was designed it was beating the crap out of the steel aics mag(ruger) under recoil.

No, the way it designed its closer to a one-piece anyway, the important part is the bedding surface/recoil lug pocket are milled into the same piece. There are alignment dowels plus screws that hold the bottom metal to the main chassis, and then action screws on top of that. There is tons of contact. Both MDT and Oryx have barricade stops in front of the magazine well, and well metal magazines do get a bit scratched from use. My magazines have been a fair amount and no issues there.

I was eyeing the LSS XL chassis and noticed that it requires the use of new mags (non tikka ctr 10 rounders). I was wondering if it was just the LSS chassis or if all MDT chassis require new mags.

I bought my ctr thinking hunting and now I may be turning into a bench gun. I am
Also left handed so my chassis options are limited.

Oh yes the idea behind the chassis and its Magwell is to switch over to the somewhat standardized aics mags. That's the only thing I am disappointed in with the ctr, if I get only a slight bit of dust or snow in the mag it doesnt want to bring the next round up sometimes. I dont know what the rangers are using for mags in there new tikka, hope they are better than what us civilians get.

Yes, in that case, you will be switching from the CTR magazines to AICS pattern magazine which are very common.

Where did you guys pickup your Oryx Chassis systems?

Direct from the website!
