Thinking on building a gun room

When it comes to how to place them on the wall, I suggest vertical, since it is very space efficient. I always store long guns muzzle down. As you can see, this allows the scope to hang facing the wall. the center of gravity is such that the guns stays put. My walls take two rows of vertical rifles, so a lot of guns can be stored in a small space.

Why muzzle down? Active guns have solvent in the bore. Collector guns have oil in the bore. I don't want gunk migrating down the barrel into the action/trigger/bedding. By storing the guns muzzle down, the gunk migrates to the muzzle. It sits on a folded cleaning patch.

well i still have space for a vertical rack in my little room. i just don't currently have the collection to justify it (yet) but i'm working on it. so for now the horizontal thing makes it look more impressive than it is, even just to me. but the vertical rack shown above is a great idea and so is the muzzle down. on my horizontal setup it's hard to see in the pics but i did try to have them tilt down to the muzzle for the reasons mentioned above.
cheers

ps my door is ordered and will be installed for next week total cost on door $180. deadbolt and handle lock keyed the same for under $100.
