Third Milsurp Online Match - Just built the 1,000 yard range, see page 14

I shot these about a month ago and I was waiting to see if I could do better, but I might as well submit these just in case I don't get out. Shooting handloads in a Mosin Sniper at 100yds. Now if I could just get the group centred on the target. The flyer on the second target was me. Total score of 92 please correct me if I'm wrong.

Well done! Definitely worth submitting, great groups. I face the same challenge in zero in the 200 yard, it's not just the groups in this but centering them too, true marksmanship not just consistency and a lot of that is having the sights perfectly set. Mine were low too and cost me a good few points.

I'm finding the scope adjustments on the Mosin Sniper to be a little finicky. I've burned through quite a bit of ammo trying to get it just right to no avail. Hopefully I will get another couple of tries at it before the end of June. Maybe some other distances as well.

I'm off to the range tomorrow to see if I still remember to shoot iron sighted milsurp ( too much F-Class can spoil you LOL ! ). Have just packed a Garand, a 1903 and a No4 Mk2 ( which, latter, I suspect I will do best with as it has PH sights ). Good, bad or just plain fugly the best targets posted tomorrow night.

ps - I shall stick to 100 meters - no need to further embarrass myself :)

200-67

Norwegian Mauser 7.62NATO (Kongsberg). Praise Odin for the narrow lead (for now lol).

Ardent: Long range request.
Can we get bigger targets for 300, 500 and 1000?
I set up for 300 today but I can't see the black on that little target so I can't take aim at the black just the white sheet of paper itself.
I'm thinking a 12" black for 300 and 36" black for 500 and 1000 would do nicely so we have an exact point of aim at those ranges. Thoughts?

Ha! Well done, 65, 66, 67 scores now for 200 yard! Talk about incremental improvements, forcing me back out.

Perhaps in the future, for now these targets have been very successfully shot out to 500 yards (2010, redryder), the key is the backboard or box you're putting it on and centering. The big challenge with bigger targets is getting them in people's hands, as with this format anyone and everyone can just print one. For the far ranges, and I hope to do 300 and 500 before June 30th myself, I'll be using a very large cardboard box of plywood backing with the target centered and essentially just the page becomes the bullseye at that point. I actually want to lob some to 1000 too but my range finder isn't up to the task, suppose I could range 500, leave a reflective marker, go back another 500 and range again. Just thought of that as I got to typing...

We have an abandoned 3000' airstrip (conveniently, equals 1000 yards) available mid summer once it dries out, and I might try putting up an 8'x8' (two sheets of 3/8ths plywood) painted black target board at the end of the strip, then we'll move back for the various ranges. Would like to be the first to hit paper at 1000 within 10 rounds given for 3 years now it's yet to be tried.

Yes it is indeed Van Isle;)

The one point thing is hilarious for sure.
Ok I will try something similar for 300, maybe a large black crosshair on cardboard with the milsurp target in the middle.

this is awesome :) I'm in. I'll be shooting May 11th and will enter the 100yrd with my two rifles.
Lee Enfield No1 mk3 which i haven't fired yet and Lee Enfield jungle carbine No5 mk1, both are 1946

Well, just back from a drizzly day on the range, and here's the results....only two targets being claimed today for score. Both fired at 100m, by myself.

Target #1:

This was fired with my 1910 Ross from HMS Canada, I make the score as 67.

Target #2:

This was fired from my 1919A4 Browning. OPEN SIGHTS (no holosights!)

I count 8 hits, for a score of 44.

Due to the rain, we kept the #4(T) in the car....I'm a wimp, ok?

Here's some photos of my friend's daughters firing the 1919A4.

A good day was had!

That is awesome Navy! Will get you guys updated in, and post the scores. Fine group on that Ross! Yes, beltfed category for sure. :)

We were shooting at 500 yards last night, had to sight in before I try the target, was connecting with a 6"x12" piece of steel every 3rd shot in quite windy conditions so I hope with better weather to manage at least a respectable showing.
