This .22LR shortage is starting to piss me off.

Due to the fact of .22 & various other ammo shortages ( .22-250, & 7mm Rem Mag ) I'm going to look into purchasing reloading equipment! Now this will do nothing to help out with the .22 I know but will possibly keep me shooting more!

Load down a 223 or similar to 22r speeds. Im shooting my 223 at 1600fps and sold my 22 mag because I also load 223 at 2200 fps. Then there is always full power loads.

Just stopped by my lovely local LGS, and in true Island outfitters fashion they jacked up the price of the .22....

37$+ tax for a box of 525 .... I turned around and left....

Here in Ottawa it doesn't seem that bad. I just bought a brick of wildcat for 23$ and change plus tax.
Cabelas.ca had lots of cci mini mags before Christmas also.
We certainly don't have the selection but it's ususally available somewhere.

My local crappy tire always has 525 packs of federal for ~$28 + tax. I just always grab a box any time I am in there and now I have a pretty good supply of 22. Sure its not 4 or 5 cents a round, but at least its not 30+ like 9mm. I get to practice shooting handguns for a fraction of the price, I am happy.

Within the last month I've been to stores in Prince Rupert, Terrace & Nanaimo.
7 stores total.
All of them had 22lr.
4 of them had more than 3 choices.
Some were a bit pricy but for the most part I never noticed anything prohibitively highly priced...
The only shortage I've seen is pistol powder;that stuff is like finding a unicorn....

Out of the 13 stores I've checked over the last weekend (2 local gun shops closed for holidays) 1 store had 1 50rd box of subsonic CCI. Bass Pro had Plenty of Remmy, & Winchester but no CCI minimags or blasers only greentips

Btw, I was down at Al Flaherty's 2 weeks ago and they had bricks of M-22 for $29. Just checked their website and it says they are currently out of stock but they are always getting more stock!

My friend bought his first .22 on boxing day . while waiting the long line up to pick out the rifle he wanted , the pallet of .22 cci ammo on the floor was gobbled up !!! He ended up buying remington .22 game loads and wildcat at the UFA for $4.99 a box of 50 !!
This used to be the s&*t ammo at the gas station for $0.89 when i was a kid LOL !
