They fit tight sometimes a little Hoppes grease on the tube will allow it to slide on. Sometimes the wood shrinks a little if the firened has been off of a gun for a long time. I have alot split while removing or installing onto the foreend tube. The gauge decides the size. 16's and 20's were smaller. Yours is stamped 12 so it is a 12 gauge.
i have a 1948 ithaca 37 and it's different than the one shown, but then again it could have changed somewhere along the way. my corncob pump tapers before it fits into the collar.
Hey, I made it fit. A little grease helped. Thanks for your idea Darryl.
I was afraid to break it, I guess, The fore-end part directly under the barrel is very thin.
I took some photos ... sorry I was too lazy to dig up a barrel for this one. But it's shown with BadBoyBeeson's sling thing.
Overall, I kind of like it. I'm excited to try it out in the field. Wonder how it handles under fast cycling conditions. I like the thin and light look of it. Now I have to find a matching Buttstock. I like wood.
