I made it back out today after a good cleaning and tightening down of all the hardware on my Marlin papoose because it put on a poor performance yesterday. Also because i picked up a cooey ace 1 today and figured i'd pit them against one another in a duel so to speak. Right off the bat the cooey lost. It was shooting 6" high at 25m and does not have adjustable sights, so it's going into the shop for "repairs"... So i focused on what the papoose could really do.

Now i've only been spurred on to do these reviews because i keep reading stupid things on here like "shoots pretty good for a semi" and "semi's arent built for accuracy" etc... That is nonesense. If your semi shoots like crap there is no good excuse... the gun isn't working properly IMHO and there is no reason to pay top dollar for it.

These groups were fired today at 25m and 50m respectively, and are admittedly some of the best i have ever shot with this gun. It takes a bit of getting used to with it's very light weight, but the excersize is to point out that with proper breathing, trigger controll, and good eyes, a decent out of the box semi should put them where you want. And Marlins do this in spades.

Your Papoose looks to have great potential. I have a buddy with one that shoots well. Here are some groups I shot with my semi-auto Volquartsen last week at 50M.

Awsome groups from the Vq!! Nice shooting! That is even further proof that semi's can be just as accurate as any other gun. Im going to put a good scope on my 60ss one of these days and see what it can really do, though i think it would be tough to shoot a .28 even with a lazer... that is just plain 'ol good marksmanship. Were you using a return to battery rest or anything? Because if not that is really impressive shooting. What glass do you have on the Volquartsen? Pics?

And thanks, the papoose does well. If it wasnt 3.5lbs and had a higher magnification scope i bet it would do better. My 60ss is even more accurate. Great guns for low budgets. Of course, if you have the money, that Vq is nothing to sneeze at either!
 
Mikey- your Papoose shoots well for a semi...and that X2 because it is a takedown. My Buddy has the same experience with his, they are great value for the $.
Given that the VQ costs 1K more than the Marlin, it should shoot better, and I think this one may also be one of the special ones? Shot off a "Rock" front rest and a bunny-ear on the back. Scope is a Bushnell 4200 4 - 16 X 40. Ammo SK Standard Plus.

Here is my Marlin 795 wearing a 4x16x50 scope. I have done a few things to her to improve accuracy, but it always shot incredibly well despite the 10lbs factory trigger. The 7 shot group was with CCI standard velocity at 50m. The circle is 1 inch.

Awesome! keep the marlin pics coming!! That 795 you have there is shooting MOA if you ignore the strays at 7o-clock. Not bad for a $140 Semi auto and "cheap" ammo.
 
I wish! :) They're inexpensive...but I just spent a WHACK of $ on a new .223 and scope....AND, the fishfinder/GPS on my boat just bit the dust. It's been an expensive summer! lol
