This is how you fix a Bushnell

In my opinion, that's a premium I'm glad to pay, at least now. I've had too many bushnel failures to ever want that hassle again. Now I view the Leupolds as the bargain scopes.

X a million:D

I'd send it back as is, maybe they'll get the hint and send you a 4200.

I'd love to see their faces when they opened that box.

I too would love to see their faces! and I have thought about sending it back just for that purpose. lol

I started switching all my scopes over to Leupold last year, two more to go, 1- Vari-X II 3x9 - 40 and a 3rd Vari-X II 4x12-40AO or another Vari-X III 3.5x10-40AO

B.Ruddick,
I can relate to what it feels like have to change the fleet over. I'd have count to be sure, but I changed out at least 15 scopes for Leupolds and Zeiss in the last few years. It stings, and it doesn't get any better knowing you've already paid for glass once.

I sent a Bushnell Scope Chief to the Toronto service centre about a month ago and have heard nothing. Is this normal or should I start enquiries or just forget it?

They should have sent an email with a work order # so you can go online and see where there at with your scope.

Give them a call :)

Yes, there very very very slow.....

sorry p/d but the service/warranty is no better with the 'high end' (if it exists) bushnel. I sent an elite 4000 for repair. I forgot about it. When my leupold returned from repair,no charge, got to thinking about the 4000. Phoned. Phoned..............Phoned. On the 4th call I was given a w/o #. Nothing done. Backlog. At least 3 mth. went by. Got a notice no parts avail. but they would replace it with a 4200 for $450 diff. I called and asked for my scope to be returned and it sits in my office to remind me never again. JUNK, no service, no warranty. With the near par loonie Leupold is the only way to go in the mid $ scopes, then Swaro-Niteforce in the real high end. My observation only, Mark

Its too bad your at the very bottom of the Bushnell models. There are far better units avilable within every price level. Phil.
True enough, and sometimes a lesson learned the hard way. In years past I've had a number of Bushnell scopes and haven't had any significant problems with them. I knew there were a few different models available in various price and quality ranges but I never realized how low some of that quality now is. A short while ago I purchased a Ruger 10/22 'package' for plinking & AB gopher shooting that included a Bushnell Rimfire 3-9X.2S, Made in China. I didn't think it would be a great scope by any stretch of the imagination but thought, Bushnell, it shouldn't be too bad. To say the least, it leaves a lot to be desired and I'll somewhat more selective in future.

Well that is true.

I've had these different models, Sportsman, Banners, Trophies, Chiefs, all but the trophy model have crapped out on me. Leaving me feel like I can't trust/depend on any Bushnell products.

I have spent time dealing with Bushnell and warranty service for a pair of binoculars, it took over 18months before they sent me back a cheapo model in replacement which was about $100 and the pair that I sent in that crapped out were close $500, it took another year dealing with the US rep to get things some what straightened out, but the replacement that I have now still doesn't compare to the original one that I had bought.

My next binos are going to be Leupold.

It is well known that we sell most brands of optics from the entry level to very expensive. The two top selling brands in our store are Leupold and Bushnell with Zeiss, Nikon and Burris following in volume. With most modern produced optics there are few problems out of the box even the less expensive ones. In my opinion the very best service in the industry (in Canada) is Korth Group (Leupold Canada). I have only sent in about a half dozen scopes in the literally thousands I have handled that required service and the majority of those were older used units I took in on trade. No repair has taken more than 2 weeks and I have not been charged a cent. The Bushnell service takes somewhat longer (8-12 weeks) in most instances but all were returned repaired without charge. Because of our volume I see more scopes and binos than a consumer and speak to more people about their satisfaction level. I'm comfortable in saying that even in Bushnell we rarely hear about problems (I see 2 or 3 a year come back with problems after mounting) but we sell several hundred units every year. I will bring up this matter of Bushnell warranty again with my reps and executives of Bushnell Canada for their attention. I use many different brands of scopes on my various guns because they can all offer a certain price point and features. Phil.
