Fantastic looking country, the sheep you seen? Were th3y Dalls or Stones, you have Stones in the lower portion of your territory don't you?
Whats the deal with non-resident Canadians hunting in the Yukon? Do you have to be guided by a professional guide or can it be a yukon resident?

I'm thinking about moving out your way in a year or two. This southern country's getting a little bit crowded for my taste.
Problem is, I won't be able to hunt for the first year I live there. But, I understand that residents can hunter-host non-residents. Perhaps we can come to some sort of... understanding?

Actually, never mind about the Quid stuff -- You'd have to draw a non-res sheep tag, which takes years, and it would probably violate the whole no-exchanging of hunts for gain stipulation of the regs.
But I'm jealous.

Moose, caribou, and black bear can be hunted once every three years on a Special Guiding Permit. You must be a bona-fide Canadian resident, actually residing in Canada to be guided on this permit.
You cannot hunt sheep on a Special Guiding Permit.

I sure wish I could use my quad in the mountains to chase sheep and caribou. Here in northern BC it's been shut down for many years. Just as well I suppose, as there would be all kinds of idiots ruining the high country

Alberta has been going through lots of this over the years as well. In some ways it sucks, but in most ways it is better. There are far too many irresponsible OHV users now days, and in the end the irresponsible ones screw it up for everyone.
Going by foot means that far less people will be hunting these areas, mostly out of laziness. Not trying to turn Smokeys post into a quad bashing thread, I own a quad as well.

Dang it, how's a guy suppose to shoot a dall without spending a ####load of money, There is the Tat Draw in B.C. but the population is lower than in the Yukon, and the Yukon is nicer.
What about NWT, anyone know the rules there?
Smokey's pictures are awesome, and I can vouch for the beauty of the YT as my wife camp and fish YT and Alaska, but I do fell that the pics are tainted by the quads. I know, I know...I'm a horseman and I figure that horses belong and quads don't. Just look at quads have done in the Indian Graves area in SW Alberta. Irresponsible drunks just tearing the crap out of beautiful country. I too have a quad, it's a '97 and has 1100 km on it, mostly going in circles cutting grass. And even though I have one, I hate them.
