ha:

TDC's work is so serious that if he told us he would have to kill us all ;)

So some others have revived a THREE YEAR OLD THREAD and as a moderator all you can do is post an ad-hominem attack?? Very mature.

Like I've posted in several other threads, does serving X number of years for some agency/dept/unit automatically equate to expert level knowledge? Does the lack of said service automatically equate to the opposite?

Lets discuss "serious work" for a minute. This revolver is marketed as part of Smith and Wesson's "Military and Police" line of products. One could only surmise that with such a target market, the product best be designed or at least geared towards hard use with a focus on reliability.

Eight rounds is pathetic. I'm sure we all know that shot placement is the critical component so the "eight rounds of .357 is superior to ..." argument is out.

Optics on a handgun is best left to the gamers.

The light is inaccessible due to its very forward location. Lets not overlook the cylinder gap which will cause problems to the users thumb that is activating the light. We all know that we don't turn the light on and leave it on right?

The weight of that beast is insane, 36oz empty. That's only 3 ounces lighter than a Glock 20 10mm loaded with 15 rounds. A Glock 17 and 22 weigh in at 32 and 34 ounces loaded with 17 and 15 rounds respectively. Even a full size SIG 226 and a Beretta 92 come in under that weight empty.

Operating a wheel gun with one hand is a chore. Reloads aren't fast. You can't top up a wheel gun in a hurry, no tactical reload. Single loading rounds could result in several empty chambers before finding the live ones. There is no tell or sign that you've fired all rounds unless you open the cylinder and check or the gun fails to fire(which could be a bad primer as well).

I can see the revolver is well suited for "serious work". With all the user friendly attributes above, I can't see any intelligent agency/dept./unit not immediately ordering these by the truck load.

I'll throw this out there as food for thought. Why is it that IDPA and IPSC both have SEPARATE divisions for revolvers? If they're as capable as an auto why don't they compete against them?

I guess such logical and blatantly obvious drawbacks are beyond my "experience". Perhaps with several years of clerk duty or working supply or drinking excessively would validate such findings...

TDC

ETA: I again mean no disrespect to those who serve.

Ummmmmmmm capcity, even playing field, and this is for fun only. Why don't you keep your tactical god, weekend rambo, super operator wannabe spew out of the fun stuff, cause it ain't fun.

Yes you do.

+1. I can't be the only one who finds it funny that someone seen stealing just happens to have "issues" with LEOs, can I?

Can you support that claim???? If you're referring to the TSE incident, I haven't been in the building in six years.

Anyone care to debate the points I posted?? No?

TDC

And there it is.

Your above statement makes it pretty clear that you do in fact mean a great deal of disrespect, and is very offensive.

The only serving personnel I intend disrespect towards are those who believe their time in equals automatic SME status. I know a few LE and MIL types who genuinely know their ####. I've met several others in both professions who know nothing as well. To assume all serving personnel are well versed in their equipment and craft is ignorant.

TDC

And to take your musings as anything other then OPINION is Ridiculous.

Your attempt to seek approval from the Gun Community is pathetic, at best.

Time to go back into the Basement TDC.

and yet you have no time in any service... LEO or Military, notice 99% of the trainers out there have military service.

+1 But he does have a few weekend warrior wannabe spec ops operators courses plus the internet book and videos that really serve no purpose for training for him because he will never need to use it anywhere at anytime because he will never be anything but a wannabe. Again TDC, if you had even the slightest clue or idea of the qualifications, and experience of some of the people here on CGN you try to very unsuccessfully take on all the time, you would just crawl back under your blanky.

TDC is correct, being in the CF or law enforcement doesn't make you an SME, however when your job is small arms training, procurement and training, firearms trainer, CQB tactics instructor, tactics instructor, etc etc etc etc (and obviously in this case I'm not talking about me) and you're a dedicated trainer who has taken more courses than most people have heard of, excelled at those same courses and are referred to as an SME at your work place, and have the respect of your peers in the industry, you might just be a SME in pistols and their use. And those are the people TDC is arguing with, again.
