I was thinking about this today. How many guns do you own that don't get regular use? It seems like I buy a rifle and get a load developed, it's used for the remainder of the year and then it gets put away. Something else catches my eye and the cycle starts again. Now it looks like I'm entering a handgun phase. Maybe variety is the spice of life? Maybe I don't get out enough?

The 12 gauge and the 10/22 come to mind, but there's no way I'll ever get rid of them. They always get played with when I take guests to the range and I think everyone needs a 12ga and a semi 22lr in their collection. Even if I wanted to turn them into cash, we're only talking about a mere $400-$600.

Just look at the smiles: (also, I had ear plugs, but that 14.5" barrel is LOUD!)

you have it here. say no more, it is a hobby after all.

I wouldn't worry about it too much if your interests change or if you a have a few lesser used firearms. Buy and sell as you see fit.....story of my life. Here's a great example of how things work here.

I saw an Enfield tanker revolver and bought it, shot it a bit. A while later I came across another and bought it, figured I'd keep one as a shooter and one as a safe queen. Some time later, I stumble upon an old S&W 1905 model of the 4th change. I liked shooting it more, so I bought another one in a different caliber, and sold both Enfield revolvers.

Then I notice that I need another scope, and my sks is just a 3 gun superstar, only taken out four or five times in a year. Off it goes to a new home......and the cycle continues.:):)

Haven`t you heard about the contest that says "who ever dies with the most toys wins". :D Besides SWMBO has a lot of clothes and shoes that don`t see regular use. ;)

What's regular use? I have firearms I haven't shot in at least a year, but by no means are they on the auction block (yet). I think a lot of us do the same thing as you. Really numbers aren't that important, unless she figures out the monetary value in the safes, then there may be some problems, or more likely knowing my wife, retaliation of the new car variety...

Sorry, this is off the topic but that is one awesome pic. Love the fireball!

I don't think there is a such thing as too many guns. I personaly keep them if I like them weather I shoot them often or not. I enjoy having the option of using them or not. I really enjoy the challenge of finding odd and interesting guns. Its a new learning experience everytime and most of it is new to me.

Some handguns I use on a weekly basis.
Centrefire rifles, more in the warmer weather.
Rimfire rifles, when the mood strikes me.
If I had more time, I'd use them all, a lot more.
Let's just say that when/if I retire, I won't be bored!

I often say to myself that my collection is done and then something else catches my interest. I used to sell something out of the safe to keep the herd numbers down and to ease my sense of guilt but I have had regrets doing this. Now I take the wife clothes shopping (and thankfully she likes the cheaper retailers). Then it is only fair that I get something. Thank goodness she has no idea what firearms cost.
