This make a decent beginner trap gun?

You might also want to consider a Stoeger O/U. They are a better gun. While the russians or turkish guns might be cheap alternatives, think about replacement parts and repair work. I had a Hatsan Escort Semi and had nowhere to turn when it started to crap out on me. Worst $300 decision ever. It was fun while it worked but ultimately a waste.

Stoeger has an office in Whitby, ON. What do the rest have? Stoeger parts aren't the toughest to come by. Remember this is the same family company as Beretta, Benelli, Uberti, Burris, Tikka, Sako... I think it's a whole lot easier to get parts for their guns than it is for Baikal or Hatsan by far.

Have you ordered parts from Stoeger for a Stoeger? Ordered any parts from them for any gun at all? I have. It's faster (a LOT faster) to order parts from either the U.S. or overseas than to get them from Stoeger Canada.

I've spent over a year now trying to get parts out of that Stoeger plant in Whitby. Still not here......... I am no longer a fan.

I think their plan is to hope you will go away or forget your problem. I have never heard anyone every get a needed part or repair for a Stoeger brand firearm. I have heard fo them giving in with much persistence and replacing the defective firearm. Guess that is all they can do with the disposable throw away quality product that bears the Stoeger name.

In spite of my contempt for Stoeger guns, I have been very lucky when ordering spare parts for my 391s. I have had very speedy delivery of a trigger group, gas pistons, optima tubes, action springs etc. I was probably lucky because I did not need them but ordered most for back up for two very healthy firearms.

Oh well..

maybe i just wont get a shotgun. Figured i could get something cheap and nice to F-around shooting clays.

apparently i need to spend 600+ dollars. :(

no you don't.

if you are seriously just messing around having fun then anything will work so long as you are comfortable with it. but like everyone has said it may not last. It's up to you really. i still say a cheap 870 is the way to go. i love mine. but an o/u is better suited to the sport.

basically get anything you want! it's your money have fun!

No updates yet.

Guy that runs tradex was moose hunting til yesterday, so i assume ill get an email back with answers to my questions in the next couple days.

I also found a brand new Stoeger Model 2000 semi super cheap, and emailed that dealer as well.

kinda torn now between the new stoeger...and a used older O/U. Mixed reviews about the stoeger, some seem to work fantastic, others seem to have issues out of the box.

dont buy stoeger you have to look at it like a investment stick with the big 4 remington, winchester, browning berretta, sume mossbergs i started in the trap shooting sport this year i used a 240 dollar mavrick 88 pump gun made by mossberg great begginer gun. 4 week of shooting i saved 1000 bucks to buy my dream gun winchester sx3 great gun i never have to worry about finding parts it will last me a life time. one of my range buddies uses one of the first 11-87 remington ever made 800 bucks it cost him. he just had his first problem with it in 23 years. i am just trying to tell do your research on each gun you like go ask ppl out at the range if you can try sume out make sure it fits you body well take it from me this sport is way more addicting then u think i have shot 1200 rounds this year so far next year it will be like 5000 to 6000 just dont buy sumething in 2 to 3 years down the road you cant find parts for then its just big waste of your money for a 500 dollar o/u paper weight

When you're thoroughly hooked and want to test your trapshooting skills against the best in the world, down at the Grand American, you'll want a Ljutic, Perazzi or a Krieghoff. Better be sitting down when you google the price.

"You get what you pay for"! No interchangeable chokes! No factory service! F and M so you can't shoot steel! A good deal, NADA! You could of found a use B gun or some used Auto for about the same that would better fullfill a versatile shotgun.
regards,
Henry;)

I don't know much about the model mentioned but an over/under with fixed chokes, mod. and full, sounds just what a starting shooter needs. I wouldn't worry about steel shot as it's not used in trap or skeet, just for hunting. You even get a good doubles trap gun, use mod. on the first bird, and you're good to go....
