I can honestly tell you the original stock is nice to shoot and I don't have 12" arms. I shoot squared up leaning forward slightly putting the 12.5" lop right where it needs to be for the feel I prefer. I like a short lop to keep the rifle in close where I'm most comfortable with it and can maneuver it the best. I also like the lightweight, I haven't found a single aftermarket stock that I like yet. This is just my opinion and preference, not everyone likes to shoot this way.

Yeah, Come on OP! Don't you know you cannot modify an SKS, if you do your a classless idiot that ruins a gun and its history. But it is OK to weld a scope onto an SVT40 cause it easy to reverse the work that was done... LOL. Just kidding, enjoy your SKS, its your gun to do with as you please!!

It's welded on permanently now that I know it works as it should. It's a practical modification just like the rifle posted by DILLIGAF.

PS Welding guns is nothing new, I've been doing it for years :) LOL.

Not a purist at all, but for what it's worth, my PC is steel and aluminum, the keyboard is aluminum, and the mouse is mostly steel and aluminum. Not much plastic in sight, actually...
 
I'm not a fan of many red rifles, and that is no secret too many here.
But another lower level of bubba hell is the popular trend to put a Tapco or ATI stock on absolutely everything out there in a sad effort of M4gery.
Including 22-250 varmint bolt action rifles. Yeah, walmart commandos!

I think I might be able to use the same idea on my SVT 40 and still be able to use the safety. The travel on that is way too long.

PS, I think the sks safety is dangerous. Accidental discharge is all too easy when disengaging it.

I paired my tech sight with the williams fiber optic front post and its a perfect combo. tech sights are a huge upgrade IMO.

A thread like is is a great way to identify trolls, haters and people who comment even though they don't see the point of the thread.

Don't take everything so seriously. Look at all the other information that developed from this pointless thread. The trigger mod for example. I've also learned there is something called a Wal-Mart commando. I'm not sure what that is, but I'll be on the lookout next time I go to the mall.

The stock worked for stunted, underfed peons, not for full-sized humans. Once you're past 5'6" with normal proportions you start thinking it's a bit short. At 5'9" I find it moderately uncomfortable. I can only imagine how most 6+' shooters feel.

Designed that way for good reason. Off safe and on trigger firing instantly. Like an AR, the safety should be swiped as you are coming up on target and putting your finger on the trigger to fire. If you are swiping the safety, you should already be up on target.

It is a combat gun. Shooting paper on a one way range is the retirement job.
