This Ruger.. screamed "daddy!"...to me

Having recently sold a newer 77/357 Stainless/Synthetic I can assure you that the fit and finish on the newer Rugers is not up to par with the older ones.

No better than the Savages I have owned that is for sure!

Good thing his ruger is an older one...

The current Ruger stuff is beyond rock solid too, so don't sweat the opinions. Yes, there are more tool marks etc on the latest stuff, some of Ruger's past offerings like the No.1s, RSM, and Gold Label were premium rifles not standard production rifles, Bill Ruger saw to that. That's changed but the general rock solid nature of Rugers is there, to be sure, and those after a working gun couldn't care less about tool marks. One Ruger is just worth four Savages now instead of seven.

I love my paddle stock 300 win mag. Have owned it for over 20 years (got it the first year they were availible). It is still my go to rifle for the larger game and just took down a large moose with no issue.
