Dang ................................I was holding my .270 Win FWT SS when the cow blew out of the bush during a push this am.130gr Hornady[old dark red box bullets]/56gr IMR 4831/Fed brass/Fed mag primer. She in my garage beside a couple mulies that also got tilted.

Some fine bulls in here!!

This year, I opted to use my past grandmothers hunting rifle for my moose leh... the “classy king.. ;)” aka, the pre 64 model 70 in .375 h&h, got it done. One 260 gr partition did the job.

Nice deep freeze bull. :)My favorite size. Nice rifle as well. I have a model 70 in 375 H&H but :( mines not a pre 64.

I put twice as many 260 partitions into my bull. One hard quartering to shot to keep him out of the river with me and one broadside to convince him to lay down. First bullet was recovered, slipped its front core.48C8CA2B-11F0-4E04-8C0F-4002AA9E4E48.jpg

We'll see how many days (hours?) I want to be hauling this thing around, but the current plan is to introduce a 'black rifle' into the rotation this season.

Stag 10L LEV2, chambered in .308 Winchester, topped with a Vortex Viper HS 2.5-10x44. Load is 180 gr Nosler CT in front of 41.0 gr Varget.

What's your boom stick choice this season?

That is a sweet setup, very nice cartridge choice as well. I have had great success with those rounds in the past!

This year is was a Rem model 7 in 300 SAUM pushing 150 ttsx. I was amazed at how much those bullets went through. Smashed the on side shoulder and angled through about 30" of moose. Found both on the far hide. I'll post some pics if I can. The bull was 47"

I'm leaving Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning for the last couple of days of immature bulls moose season it ends Friday.

I've been trying to decide which rifles to take been changing my mind but have come back to taking my 22" barreled T/C Prohunter in 375H&H loaded with 250gr TTSX @ 2600fps and my 14" barreled T/C Contender carbine in 338JDJ #2 loaded with 180gr Accubonds @ 2500fps.

Deer / Rifle .... Okay, My software on the ipad is messing with me.... gotta bear (pardon the pun) with me on this one with the M1A

I used a 7mm08 this year. Took 2 shots and neither exited. The first shot struck the biggest joint in his fore leg and shattered it and stopped on the outside of his rib cage. The next shot was hard quartering too at about 20 feet above his sternum and followed his neck down to vitals. That one dropped him fast. The bullet must have ended up in the gut pile. I was using 140gr federal trophy bonded tip at 2850mv. The recovered bullet that smashed his elbow was surprisingly still fairly intact. A decent lopsided mushroom that maintained a lot of its initial weight. I cant complain about the performance. It would have worked just fine if placed a few inches back but shot placement cant always be perfect on northern Bush moose.

Took my neighbour to get his first ever.

Husqvarna Model 96 in 9.3X62

It works!

I carried my Harper 9.3X62 that has several moose hunts in its history.
Ted

Nice, VERY nice. ;) With any luck, ;) perhaps my full length wood M-70 Zastava in .'366 Wagner' will get the opportunity to experience a similar degree of success :) in the not too distant future .

I did carry my new Sako 85 LH Hunter in 9.3x62 for moose this year. Just couldn't sneak a 250gr AccuBond through the willows to bring the 3 yr old bull home. Not the rifle's fault.

I have some 250gr Accubonds I must load up actually.
