This sucks. This really sucks.

Check what they have got and try all the ones that look good. Pick the rifle that mounts best and 'feels' good in your hands and and at your shoulder!

Chambering is irrelivent for the ones you mentioned as they are all so close with the 7 mag being the heavest hitter!

Buy the 30-06 Steyr Prohunter off the EE. The felt recoil will be less than a 7-08 in any other rifle and it will shoot better than you can.

I would buy it myself if I didn't have two already.

................i'm thinking .270 in a stainless SPS config. With a straight 6 power on top.

Good choice... :)

I was leaning towards 7mm-08 but a .30-06 would probably be the most versatile. Personally, I'd go any of 'em... ;)

Sorry, no help, I know....

I leave for the city in two hours with cash in hand for a new rifle. Its a toss up between .270, 7mm-08, 7mm rem mag or a .30-06. I have the reloading gear for all the calibers but after two weeks of pondering i am still undecided. My head is spinning right now.:D

Mark. Take some of the wifes money with you! Get two or three. That way you won't have to waste gas driving back anyway. She won't mind. She loves you! Let us know what you get. LOL

Dave.

I wish I had your problems.LOL :D

Easy, choose the best one of them all ----------- 30.06

100 years old and getting better with time.

Mark, I am fearful that mountain air is doing something to your common sense. I can tell you why your buying these guns, getting bored, and dumping them, they are missing the most important part of a gun, a lever. Forget about those boring bolt actions, buy youself a nice pistol grip BLR in .270WSM or 7mm-08. You will be more at home with the lever action, and will be proud to go out and shoot it.;)

7 mm would be my choice, just the perfect diameter. Now if you want to shoot it aloth, paper punching , iron chicken stuff.... and big game, then go 7-08 , If its for big game with limited range time, go 7 rem mag. :beerchug:

I would go with the 30-06 for reasons already stated above. But, there is somsthing to be said for picking them up and handling them, then choosing the one that calls your name. If you asked us if you should marry a redhead, brunnette or blonde --- SAME ANSWER!

I have a 700 CDL in 270 that I just love!! I bought a 30-06 CDL just for the beautiful wood on it, and that wood now resides on my 270. Just finished working up a load with the Barnes 130 TSX for it. shot around ½" for 3 at 100 meters. This rifle has already showed similar potential with the 140 Partition and the 140 Accubond. What more could one ask for? A beautiful rifle that feels great in the hands and shoots so well. Ahhhhh Life is good. Enjoy your SPS. Regards Eagleye.

Here it is anyways. Just moved into our new house last week and started slapping my reloading area together today.
