Thompson 1928 A1

the problem is, when I took the trigger group off to clean, I have been trying to get it back together, but in the conversion the full auto switch is fixed in the semi position, so when you slide the trigger group back on to receiver the rocker is hitting the bolt and is stopping it from going together. I believe when the rocker is in full auto position it is lowered so it does not hit the bolt. Is there a trick to get it to go together. Thanks for any help

I used to use a piece of strong thread. Loop it over the Rocker with the ends handing over the front of the Trigger Group. Now, as you slide the Trigger Group onto the Upper Receiver, you pull on both ends of the looped thread at the same time, to pull the Rocker Down just as you slide the two pieces together. Once you have the two pieces slid past the Rocker, simply pull on one end of the Thread to pull it out of the Firearm. It is far easier to show you than to explain with words, but hopefully that paints the picture for you! It works very well once you get the hang of it.

I knew it would be you to answer this, thank you once again for all of your wisdon, I will give it a try when I get home today, thank you

What he said /|\

I have used a long fishing leader and cut the looped ends off. Its coated wire and thin enough to loop and pull out after you trip the rocker.

I use a fishing leader myself, the RCMP told me they use a hacksaw blade ground down thin with a small hook on the end, I have never tried this but I think it may work easier. Personally I would delete this thread now as when a CA Thompson is transferred the upper and lower are often directed to be welded together.

I just received mine yesterday, and it went through the new conversion process and the reciever and trigger group were not welded together or required to by CFC

The ever-changing "Conversion Requirements" for 12(3) Converted Autos are becoming ridiculously and dangerously out of control. A TSMG welded up the way Mr. Wolverine suggests would preclude ever accessing the internals of the firearm for maintenance of any sort, rendering the firearm functional but impossible to clean & oil, change out worn Trigger Group parts, etc, etc. Absolutely insane, but I suppose it doesn't matter if you have no intention of ever allowing the owners of 12(3) CAs the opportunity to discharge their legally-registered firearms! Fvckers....

I KNEW this would be the question when I replyed this morning. almost wrote it out. strong fishing line was what I used dental floss is next best thing for tough yet slim if the tolorances are to close

I wanted a Mac 11, but CFC stated that the receiver had to be welded together, so I did not buy it just for that reason, if something small breaks inside how do you fix it. That is total bulls**t

I had an M1 model, normally it would be in FA for disassembly, but that is impossible in the conversion, so need some way of bypassing the disconnector, string is one answer.

Grizz

Ridiculous!! Fvcking unelected bureaucrats making up nonsensical rules to discourage us from owning firearms which we are authorized to legally possess, all with the tacit (if not full and open) support of their so-called "supervisors" in Red Serge. It is infuriating to think that our taxes pay their wages!!
