cdnrokon: Plenty of good camping at SMC. Beautiful, parklike setting. Have stayed there on several occasions. The 'woods walk' is a lot of fun. Plenty of challenging targets, spread out over the area. If you're into silhouette shooting, there's also a nice range over on one side of the property. The club owns a lot of property. There's plenty more to see and do from what a person merely sees from the clubhouse.
Plus, if you're a cowboy action competitor(Like me), the folks at the club put on some of the best matches anywhere. Got some pretty good shooters there, too.
A truck camper or converted van might be a good choice. Easy to move from place to place and can set up just about anywhere. Or. small trailer. Big enough for you and your gear.
One of the first things I did when I retired, was buy a small trailer. 19-foot. Easy to tow. Holds me and all of my stuff. Has all the room and amenities I need for travelling about.
The hard part is finding the time to get in all the stuff there is to do. You'd think that when a fella retires, he'd have all the time in the world to loaf about, travel and generally take it easy. That's a lie! I'm busier now, than I ever was. But, still not too busy to get in a little shooting. Hard part is trying to decide what to shoot.
