Looking for a new coyote gun. I am interested in the Thompson Center Icon in 22-250
I realize that Thompson Center has discontinued this model
I would have liked the Icon Precision Hunter but am unable to find one in 22-250
I can obtain one in 22-250 in the Classic model which has Ultrawood and the Icon with the synthetic stock
Have any of you had either model and can offer comments.
I have heard it said that they are quite heavy to lug around
I presently have a Stevens 200 in 22-250 which I have installed a Boyds thumbhole stock and replaced the trigger with a Basix SAV-2 so I am wondering if it is even worthwhile to spend the money for any advantage I might get
Thanks

I'd love a Icon but paying that much for a coyote gun..i wouldnt be able to it. you can get the same accuracy from any other TC rifle (i.e venture, Dimension) but thats just my thoughts on it.

Cant comment on the 250, but I have an icon in 308, and I like everything about it - can't believe they didnt sell better than they did - extremely accurate, well built, and for me, just the right weight.

I have an icon weather shield in 22-250, it is the most accurate rifle I own getting sub moa at 200 yards with Winchester white box 45? Grn. Trigger is a thing of beauty. Mine is easily over ten pounds with the bushy 6-24 4200 elite glass, so quite heavy but its not something I mind as it points great and is very stable. I'm not a big guy 5'6 and 175lbs and don't have an issue walking with it(I would recommend a wide strap sling tho). I also own a savage package rifle in 7mm witch would be similar to your Stevens and there is a definite difference in the feel and appearance in terms of quality. I have shot it cold to hot and there is no stringing evident. I don't like the magazines as they are difficult to get the 3rd rd in and have plastic feed lips that get nicked up when loading the 3rd rd.

Hope this helps

Edit: I should also mention that I have only shot the wwb ammo out of the 22-250, as its the cheapest ammo I could get and as its so accurate I haven't needed to change it. Ymmv

My TC saw action tonight, dirty rotter was trying to get in my barn... He didn't make it
