Thompson SMG

OK, all you Thompson fans, I am posting a picture of my two Thompsons, one is a 1927 A1 from Auto Ordnance Corp of West Hurley, New York that was manufactured for exportation to countries like Canada back when Chirst was only a cowboy, hence the "have to go outside to turn around extra long barrel" and manufactured in semi-auto ONLY. They will accept the 50 and 100 round drum if you are lucky enough to have, or own one. These 1927 A 1's are classed as prohibited, even though they NEVER were manufactured to fire full auto and can only be owned by guys with prohib status and don't get me going on that subject.

I would think that since this "long barrelled" Thompson is already on the prohibited list.......... you could shorten the barrel to a more respectable length and tell the CFC. It is not going to change the clasification or would it become "Double Prohibited" :D The only reason for the long barrel was to satisfy the laws of the day.

Yes, some old farts still have them. Each model full auto is its own piece of history. The Thompson is nice to shoot. very accurate and relaible.

The PPSH uses really cheap ammo - a nice feature.

C2 and Bren can empty a wallet faster than my wife.

Klunk what happens to them when the said old farts die? Can they be passed on as an inheritance or will they need to be deactivated?

well....

there is NO legal way to inherit prohibs (except certain pistols)in functional condition

some day there will be one old OLD fart with ALL the registered 'prohibs'....if that old fart doesnt have them dewatted they will go to the smelter when he kicks off

Charmingly....the Government has made dewatting difficult and expensive....go figure

my plan is to de-register everything

If he cuts the existing barrel below 18.5" the rifle becomes prohibited outside of the 12(5) prohibited class and can be seized and charges laid. The only legal way to get a shorter barrel is to buy/make a new one at the desired length under 18.5"

Al Capone is DEAD, the people who were in Murder Inc. are DEAD, The Purple gang are DEAD. Hitler, who called the Thompson a "gangster gun" when he saw a pic of Churchill holding one, is DEAD.

HOWEVER the liberals seem to think they are still alive want to keep the honest folks from owning a Thompson. Have fired my friend's Thompson. Full auto is fun.

Because we live in a free country, tovarishchi: you can't do that! That's for the Government only!

Shortly before I was born, there was a Nazi Bund in Edmonton, my home town. When I was little, my neighbours were scared spitless of the NKVD, which operated here. Sometimes I ask myself what's changed.... and I can't get an answer.

A quote: "If Adolf Hitler had been raised in a house with a Cat, he never would have got any silly ideas about Humans being ANY part of the Master Race: they don't have fur and they can't purr!" (Sidney the Profound)

I have a question why can't we Canadians have the new Auto Ordenance Tommy guns they are Made in semi auto?

Because in the 90s, someone from the firearms office went through the guns digest of that year and circled all the commercially available guns that had certain military features like detachable mags, bayonet lugs, pistol grips, barrel shrouds, and semi automatic operation. And just so the gun producers wouldn't make slight alterations to get around the ban of these guns, they then included the word "variant".

Sounds too goofy to be true? As they say, truth is stranger than fiction.

Sorry about that last post, guys. I have shot a Tommy and they are a lot of fun: just remember to AIM the thing just below what you want to hit, squeeze the trigger and let her "walk" up into your target, then pick the next target. I guess I was thinking on things like that and got depressed.

Seems to me that people should be thinking more like old Dave Tomlinson: he was the world's best/worst legal weasel: Dave could spot a loophole in ANYTHING.

Thinking on the Canadian Bill of Rights (1960). It was LAW when the Trudeacracy debated the contents and wording of the "Charter" which they presented to the Queen (poor her!) to sign. Under the terms of the Bill, the actual DEBATE on the Charter was illegal! Possibly a court challenge?

We also need a definition of the word "Native". It is illegal to be a "racist".... but the WORD means somebody who was born in a place. I am born in Canada: that makes me a NATIVE of Canada. So I can have whatever I want for hunting.... correct?

It also is illegal to discriminate against folks on the grounds of AGE. All these poor guys who aren't yet getting the Old Farts' Pension are being discriminated against because they were born too early to get papered for Tommychoppers. Grounds for a court challenge?

Let's start thinking constructively, instead of just #####ing!

The average gunnut knows more gun law than the average lawyer, anyway. I have had to instruct lawyers on gun law, so I kow that much. If we can get a cheap lawyer who does what he's told, how long could we hold this in front of the courts? How much could we cost the Government? Enough so that they get real?

Dave Tomlinson said that there was never a single crime of violence committed in Canada with a legally-owned full-auto. The only crime I can thinki of that actually WAS committed with a legal full-auto was when a pair of S de Q officers stood outside a mote-room door and fired their SMGs through the doior, killing one house-painter and critically wounding the other. But that wasn't a crime because no charges ever were laid. (The bad guys were across the hall, heard all the noise.... and left.) But that was Government-sponsored violence. There still is no instance of a Civilian-sponsored instance of violence using a LEGAL full-auto. Complete absence of evidence. ZERO statistics to play with.

Should be enough holes somewhere to pick at.
