Thompson Venture/Icon

I just got one (venture,270), and took it out for the 1st time last week. Wind was RIDICULOUS; and I got 1/2inch with factory loads. I will buy another in 223 and 30-06 as soon as I have the funds again. You will never find better value for the money. Ever. Go buy one in either of the above calibers and if you don't love it, ill take it off your hands ;-)

I have an Icon in 22-250, Weathershield(stainless) Synthetic. The rifle is quite heavy with but some of that is my scope, 6-24x40 bushnell 4200.

I have only shot winchester white box 45 grn hp out of it so far and it is a 3/4 inch at 100. I'm sure its is more accurate than that as it was -25ish and the first time shooting it when I shot for groups. Cant wait to see what it does when I start reloading for it.

The trigger is by far the best I have ever used, the stock is very grippy but does scuff easily, but really, its rubber so not a big deal. The Action is also very smooth but does require a little extra effort on bolt lift.

So far I have only 30ish rounds down the pipe but have taken 2 yotes.

I am very happy with my Icon.

My Icon WS in 308 is accurate beyond beleiving first outing with MFS cheap russian ammo in 140 gr, one hundred rounds shot... One inch groups and half inch group with having more half inch groups, this rifle is so accurate, the trigger is WOW, one of the most accurate rifle i shot, i am impress... JP.

I've had 3 Icons in 308 ...used two for rebuilds as they are are a good action / stock to build on. I have kept one (Weathershield) as it came from the factory for my main hunting rifle. All shot about 3/4" @ 100M with handloads (never tried any factory).

Is it stainless?
I've posed the question in several threads and read all the info I could on the weathershield version (even sent an email to the company-no response) and nowhere could I find what it was made of, just the company line about a coating that is 10 times more corosion resistant than stainless steel.
Never read anywhere that the coating is on top of stainless...
I'd love to know for sure.
Cheers

I was told that it is stainless steel with a coating that is virtually forever, i find it it to be extra resistant and a nice finish, quality stuff... JP.

This TC Icon shoot on par with my Sako TRG 308, it is the best kept secret for the price juste order an other one yesterday before people find out and they raise the price trough the roof. The Venture is a good shooter to but the ultimate is the Icon, the integral Weaver bases make a big difference... JP.

I've got a Venture and I am quite pleased with it. It is my first centerfire rifle and I think the thing is very solidly built and a really good bang for the buck. I can see myself purchasing an Icon in the future for my next centerfire.

Big surprised yesterday at Le Baron in Montreal, they had a TC Icon Precision Hunter 308 at the tax free sale, i got it for 900.00 out of the door, gorgeous weapon and it is supposed to be more accurate than my TC Icon WS 308, cant wait to see that... JP.

My Venture in .223 is built well enough that I will be passing it down to my kids. Also an ICON will be coming home with me when the funds are available.

I have an Icon in 243 and it's the most accurate rifle I've ever owned. Just got back from the range today and put a 3 shot group inside 3/4 of an inch! That means that I could take a grouse's head off at 200 yards! =] The Sako Hunter in 7mm-08 that I added to the gun case this spring can only do a 1 1/4 inch group at 100 yards (about 3 inches at 200).

I highly recommend this manufacturer and model, and will be looking for another one in 30 caliber in the future...

Those are the best kept secret of the gun world, my Precision Hunter 308 IS a BETTER GROUPER THAN my TRG-22 now for 25% of the price, when the Warlord 308 get here... just cant wait... JP

Happy owner of a brand new TC Precision Hunter Icon in 243 and i bought 5 boxes of Superformance 243 SSt 95gr at 3185 fps. It feel like Chrismas... JP
