Thomson Center Venture or Marlin X7 in .223

I was leaning towards a Savage Axis and then cleaning up the trigger myself. I spotted a TC the other day, and was impressed with handling , stock,.etc. It has great reviews. THoughts? This would be my Varmint gun...

They do, but it's a varmint weight bbl.

They are now available (2012) in a sporter weight barrel. Problem is finding one in Canada.
