another tip: i've noticed that the longer the barrel, the less the report. even 1 1/2" makes a difference on virtually the same gun. i have two 10/22s, one with a 20" barrel, and one with a 18 1/2" barrel. the 20" barrel has noticably less "crack" when fired.
if you find that your 10/22 isn't reliable with sub sonic ammo, polish up the internals, it will help. if still no go, put a larger raduis on the rear of the bolt where is contacts the hammer.
