Thought on the ruger precision rifle

Welcome aboard! Yes most accounts are positive for the Ruger Precision Rifle, I have not shot one yet but have had hands on in my LGS. It is an impressive rifle, especially for the cost, I am not sure there is another rifle in the price range that can compare. I would think it would be a very safe investment.

I was going to buy one in 6.5CM until i accepted the fact that nobody around where i live has any ammo or brass in stock, and hasn't had any for the last 3 months. That left me with switching to the .308. However, $1600 for a .308 was more than i was willing to go in that caliber. I will buy a Savage 10TR for $750 and a Harris Bipod, and be in at $1000. That extra $600 in my pocket can buy me lots of ammo or set me up with a press and kit to handload my own .308.

my RPR experience

RPR 6.5 creedmoor, brass, bullets, dies, scope, rings, bipod=$$$$ ( still it's a poor man's Accuracy International) all of the above still less than half the price of an AI beauty.

RPR 6.5 creedmoor, to the range....:50cal:

Brass, cases, etc will become more available once the craze settles down. A fun "shiny new thing".... now to get me an 800 meter gong:d

The serious guys may look down on you and your "cheap rifle", but it's sorta of a fun toy.

Quality seems to vary by what I hear/read, so maybe buy one you can examine in person or from a dealer you have ++ trust/faith in.

YMMV!

I put about 20 rounds down range on a 6.5cm, it was pretty damn accurate. Hitting rocks at 300 yards and watching bullets disintegrate on impact. Pretty awesome rifle for the money.
