I finally got my hands on a CZ 600 LUX. I'm a CZ fan and have a few other models to compare and contrast this new model with. While I'm not a fan of the idea of barrel swaps CZ originally had, I was intrigued about the new modern control round feed action they came up with, so I had to get my hands on one. The first few things I noticed while unboxing and handling this rifle was the wood. The finish is very dry and in the rough compared to the 550-557 models. They are no longer deep blued like the previous line outs. The shorter sight radius and longer forend on the stock stood out and makes the rifle look like it has a shorter barrel than what it really is. The rifle also sports its fair share of plastic which include the bolt shroud, bolt release, trigger guard, magazine locking mechanism, and magazine. I do wish CZ will come around and offer more steel on the rifle at some point, just my preference. I do very much like the new move from the dove tail scope mounting system to a drilled and tapped style that can accommodate the many Remington 700 style mounts available on the market. This new options helps keep the weight of the rifle down especially with Talley light weight ring mounts as pictured on the rifle. The plastic magazine is serviceable and is locked into place in somewhat of a rock and lock method, something I have to get used to. The trigger actually breaks really nice, and is adjustable with out removing the stock which is a nice touch. The new tang safety design is also a neat feature that seems to be a big improvement, makes for easier engagement and disengagement. The bolt is not very smooth just like 550 models but I'm sure with use it will smoothen out. The wooden bolt nob is also something that I personally don't like. The control round feed seems to work as advertised, this CRF is in my opinion the best feature about this rifle and the main reason of buying it. I have yet to shoot the rifle but I'm sure it will do great in the accuracy department. Overall based off my first impressions I do think the rifle is overpriced for the amount of corners CZ cut while selling the rifles at the cost of the 557 model. If only they get the new CRF action and scope mounting system on the 557's. Then I would be a much happier camper. Just my thoughts and opinions which you can take with a grain of salt.
