I finally got my hands on a CZ 600 LUX. I'm a CZ fan and have a few other models to compare and contrast this new model with. While I'm not a fan of the idea of barrel swaps CZ originally had, I was intrigued about the new modern control round feed action they came up with, so I had to get my hands on one. The first few things I noticed while unboxing and handling this rifle was the wood. The finish is very dry and in the rough compared to the 550-557 models. They are no longer deep blued like the previous line outs. The shorter sight radius and longer forend on the stock stood out and makes the rifle look like it has a shorter barrel than what it really is. The rifle also sports its fair share of plastic which include the bolt shroud, bolt release, trigger guard, magazine locking mechanism, and magazine. I do wish CZ will come around and offer more steel on the rifle at some point, just my preference. I do very much like the new move from the dove tail scope mounting system to a drilled and tapped style that can accommodate the many Remington 700 style mounts available on the market. This new options helps keep the weight of the rifle down especially with Talley light weight ring mounts as pictured on the rifle. The plastic magazine is serviceable and is locked into place in somewhat of a rock and lock method, something I have to get used to. The trigger actually breaks really nice, and is adjustable with out removing the stock which is a nice touch. The new tang safety design is also a neat feature that seems to be a big improvement, makes for easier engagement and disengagement. The bolt is not very smooth just like 550 models but I'm sure with use it will smoothen out. The wooden bolt nob is also something that I personally don't like. The control round feed seems to work as advertised, this CRF is in my opinion the best feature about this rifle and the main reason of buying it. I have yet to shoot the rifle but I'm sure it will do great in the accuracy department. Overall based off my first impressions I do think the rifle is overpriced for the amount of corners CZ cut while selling the rifles at the cost of the 557 model. If only they get the new CRF action and scope mounting system on the 557's. Then I would be a much happier camper. Just my thoughts and opinions which you can take with a grain of salt.

Ya just what I was worried about would seem the colt acquisition has turned the company into a bunch of bean counters. I'm willing to bet CZ stops making center fire rifles all together once the 600 line fails. Another brand racing to the bottom of quality to pinch every penny possible.

Every time CZ introduces a new "improved" model, it is not improved, it is just engineered so their manufacturing process is simplified, thus saving THEM money. They'll tell you what ever they think the consumer wants to hear to sell you one.....
Barrel swaps.....give me a break. Just what a guy wants to do is re zero his rifle every time he decides to swap barrels....that is a gimmick. Maybe it means something in countries where you are only allowed to own one rifle, but not here.
I'm not saying the new CZ rifles are bad, I am just saying that they are definitely not an improvement. Don't believe me? compare one side by side with a model 21, 22, or ZG47.

Barrel swap might be why the rear sight is forward on the barrel, so the sights stay aligned to it.

On the one hand that really cuts down on the sight radius, but on the other hand it might mean that old cheapskates who don't mount a scope don't have to try to focus on a rear sight as close in.

Has anyone tried one of these with the iron sights?

On a second look at those photos. Even the black part on the front end of the stock isn't even fully black. You can still see wood coloring through it. The 600 line truly is a step backwards in terms of quality.

CZ is generally okay. Not always but generally. There is a hype for oldies and I bet it's the same hype for any other brands historical lines. Oldies are goodies.

Definitely interested to try out the 3 lug CRF design. Thinking alpha 8x57 this tax return season pending availability.

The fish scale checkering and wood bolt knob are a little much for me personally. Rear sight looks interesting

Definitely interested to see first impressions of the alloy receiver and synthetic stock models.

Plastic bottom metal, wooden bolt knob, basketball hoop front sight, fish scale checkering, low-end bluing... pass, pass, pass.

Ya they have pretty much abandoned the section of the market they occupied. Cheaping out for new features over quality parts. The only reason I own a cz 500 series rifle was the old school bluing and mauser styled actions. Now they compete in the same category as every other cheap rifle on the market. I'd save up a few more bucks and just buy a model 70 at this point, as there isn't much I'm seeing in the 600 lux that looks in anyway like a rifle I would want to own.

I think it would look better without the sights, with steel scope mounts and a gloss scope. I agree the tang safety is an improvement. Overall a nice rifle but trending like all the rest towards plastic, which is unfortunate.

Yes, I am also partial to the Brno 21, ZG-47 and the super smooth and accurate shooting CZ 557 Lux. However, I ordered an Alpha and my plan is to slog it through the mud and rain. Plastic stock and parts will be less to worry about, and their "Bob-ox" finish on the semi-heavy barrel should prove to be resistant to corrosion. I like it for what it is, and the trigger and safety mechanisms are a real bonus. Not everyone wants or needs all their tools to be blued steel and walnut.

Curious to know what weight loss was achieved by using the soft materials?
Was this their goal?

Those sharp stock edges are calling for eewpzees.

Hmmm. I'm glad I bought my 527 and 550 Magnum instead of the 600 Lux now.

Might be better off tracking down a 557 Lux or Ranger instead of these new models.
