I am looking at picking up a new 9mm and I have been eyeballing a Beretta 92fs and the Sig P226. I will likely pick them both up at some point, but thought I would circulate this on the forum for some thoughts and opinions from the membership. What would your thoughts be on the pros and cons of either? Are there any other suggestions (not interested in Glocks) of other 9mm or other calibre?

Has anyone heard if they are phasing out the 92fs for the PX4 Storm?

Thanks for your advise. Cheers!

There are only THE GOOD about 92fs and Sig 226, These two are some of the greatest gun ever made by mankind. Anyhow buy what you like the most and learn from there.

Can't comment on the Beretta, but I'll take a run at the Sig. It's probably the safest firing system available. Even if you screw up, and forget to drop the hammer, it's not that easy to accidentally discharge it. It's really easy to field strip. It's solid as a rock.
On the down side, the factory sights aren't as good as some. It's big, even for my big mitts. It's really hard to keep it on target for a DA shot. It's built for professionals, not target shooters.

Picked up a Jericho 941 new and under $700(before HST and Shipping), best trigger pull of any semi I've shot.
CZ Combat 85 is another good one to look at.

CZ alll the way! Both guns you are looking at have substantial size to the grip. I have average size hands and find them to be a little large having shot both quite a bit. I also find that the Sig tends to be a little snappy due to the higher bore axis. I have a CZ75 and love it!

+1
the cz's are good as well. I'm partial to the sig 226, I like my .40 so much I just ordered another in 9mm :)
I don't think you'd go wrong with either one, get the one your most comfortable with and the one you like the most and you won't regret it.

I had the same debate when I was first getting my 9mm, I was in the store and had them both in my hands, I went for the P226. You have to really just have them in your hands and see which one fits better because they both have an amazing track record. That being said, IMHO the P226 looks way ###ier and is the better choice haha.

I have had both, and enjoyed both, but out of the box there is nothing more accurate then the Sig. It is a fantastic gun, well built, and very reliable. Although you are not interested int he Glock, I would have a good look at the Glock 17, shoot it if you can. Another nice gun is the Springfield XD.

Personally, from many years of owning & shooting semi-auto pistols, see if you can shoot your two choices [and a few others, too] before you make your choice. Both the Beretta & Sig are great pistols. It depends on what fits you best and which one you prefer over the other.

In my own case my "go to" for a single stack 9mm is the BHP MkIII. That is after owning & shooting many, many others. I've owned several different Beretta 92 series, but none currently. I've found the Sig doesn't fit me well. I do like the Glock 17 and the CZ 75/85 series as well.

But go with what works best for you!

NAA.

You really can't go wrong with either pistol. I have never owned a 226, but have fired several of them, and they are a beautiful gun. My Italian Inox 92FS is my favorite handgun right now, and I can't see that changing anytime soon.

As everyone else has said, there are several manufacturers that put out great 9mm handguns. It all boils down to fit and personal preference. Besides, you'll end up owning both a 226 and 92FS sooner or later, so right now you only have to decide which one you're gonna buy first!!!!:D

it doesn't matter which one you buy first, since you are going to buy both, you have your heart set on them, buy whichever one you can find the best deal on and repeat the process on the second one. Sure there are lots of other great 9's out there but that is not what you asked, buy the one that gives you the most for your money. in time you will end up preferring one over the other and using it more, but that will be after many rounds and lots of fun.

I'm not so fond of the Berreta....

the sigs are great guns, and CZ or also great guns and not so costly...

but you really need to get a chance to shoot all options available at your local club, as the gun has to fell right in your hand regardless if generally one gun is really well made, a lesser brand may actually fit you better and you'll shoot well with it...

the new sti g6 is suppose to be pretty good too....

Thanks guys for all your valuable opinions. I think I will certainly take people up on their advice and try some of these other options out. Seems like the CZ 75/85 gets quite a few good reviews too.
