thoughts for a good semi shotgun

No mention of the 1100 in 4 pages of semi-auto shotgun talk. Do the beretta's and benelli's mentioned cycle and shoot say, 700-1000$ better than an 1100 or 1187?

Okay, I'll be the first. I have an 1187 that I bought new in 2007 for waterfowl. So far it's been a great gun. Reason I bought it was because I found it to be the best fitting gun off the shelf for me, plus I didn't really want to spend $1500.00. I think I paid $660.00 at the time. Every year I put in a new 30 cent oring whether it meeds it or not and it keeps on shooting.

I really like the benelli m2 as I'm sure you are aware they come with some shims so you can fool around with the stock to help you get a nice point and feel, benelli shotguns are very reliable and will last a long time without a doubt. I put at least 10000 rounds down my last benelli and the beauty of it is you don't have to spend a pile of money. You can beat the piss out of it and it won't let you down, from clays to geese and everything in between it will get the job done. It shoots up to the 3 inch shells which in my opinion is plenty further to that for me it's an advantage I don't like 3.5 inch shells and I don't like steel shot and it's not because I don't like change it's just that I have I excepted change and there better and newer options than steel for migratiory bird.
I really can't comment on other brands of semi autos because I've never owned any except remington 1100 s which I really like by the way and still own two. However since I purchased my first bennili a m1 super 90 I've never looked back.

I have a SX3 and it cycles everything from 3/4 oz custom low recoil skeet loads to full on duck, goose and turkey loads. In 3328 rounds fired, I've had exactly two FTEs. It's been a very good and reliable gun so far.

My Silver (identical gun) has serious issues with Rio target load. In the 25 shells in a box I think it ejected maybe 8 of them. The rest were all massive fails

Yes. I've owned and shot enough samples of both to know the Berettas are definitely worth the extra cost when compared to the 1100 and 11-87.

Sure don't see any of these jammer Benelli's on the EE?

OP, when you decide what you like, look on the EE for used ones.

If there are lots of used ones, there's a reason. If they are a hard to find used item, they are good. A non-gun example of this is Polaris vs Honda atv's.

I'm having no problems with my 930 either, shoots everything, certainly doesnt have the build quality, and I would doubt longevity of the more expensive semis but its performance has been solid so far.

I looked into all the options and bought a Baikal MP153 last year. It runs like a champ. It also swings like a 2x4 ... but I don't cry when I have to haul it out on a sal####er tidal ledge and lay on my back for 45 mins in a puddle of seawater to shoot eiders. It did fail to fire once on a particular brand of shell, I forget why.

I still prefer my Winchester 1300 to it, mainly for handling, but the semi is a much more efficient weapon for things like hunting from a canoe.

I just bought a Benelli SBE II and love it. I was convinced that I didn't want a semi and the only guns I was looking at were over/ unders for skeet and trap shooting but I picked up every different one in every different store in this area, including cynergy's and citori's and about 20 others and there was a few that deffinently pointed nice for me but I was having a hard time deciding which I liked better. So while I was thinking it over I asked to check out few Semi's just to kill time, and after handling a bunch of browning's (I've shot lots of them) the guy at the counter handed me the SBE II and as soon as I put it to my shoulder it felt PERFECT. That was the first gun I've ever felt that felt and pointed perfect for me. When all the guys said "get a gun that fits and feels right for you", now I know what they meant, and you'll know as soon as you shoulder and point it. I've put about 500 target loads through it now without a single hicup. Best 1800$ I've ever spent on a gun and it came with 5 chokes and a hard case. Shoots like a dream. I also played around with a super vinci but didnt like it, not to mention how ungodly ugly they are.
