I'm not sure if the compact is the correct model but im refering to the short version of the rifle with flat butt and short barrell. Has anyone tried one? thought it might be ideal for a project gun, and good for the back of the truck. Any experiences??

I had one. The stock is a bit slimmer and shorter than the normal one. And I found the normal one small.

I really like the barrel though, and the sights that come with it are actually worth keeping. They are quite sharp.

I parted mine out to make 2 other guns from. I havent tried the barrel out yet on my current project though.

They are somewhat rare to find out here in BC. I would say that if you can find one, buy it. you will be happy.

I'd personally get the guts, buy a Hogue OM stock and a carbon fiber barrel. Very light, very short. Due to U.S gun laws (SBR) 16" is the shortest most commonly manufactured barrel. Not many people want to make an NFA gun out of a 10/22
