Thoughts on 223 WSSM?

Why would Winchester make a 55 grain ballistic tip if that is what happens???

Winchester doesn't, Nosler does. The Nosler 55 BT is essentially the same as the Hornady 58gr VMAX. Similar BC, similar speeds attainable, and similar explosiveness :D :D

I was referring to Winchester Supreme 55 grain Nosler Ballistic tip Ammo. I am just a little confused about the sayings and terms cgn use. I am slowly learning.

I've got nothing against WS_M's, but all this talk of them reminds me of a guy at work. He's relies heavily on the gun, not his skill using it.
No matter the caliber, if its WSM or whatever, he's gotta have one. "It'll shoot better/flatter/longer.
Oh, oh, this new WSSSSSM, using moly coated nuclear bullets, will drop a moose at 10000 yds. A guy I know has one and he can do that. (just a little exaggeration on my part there :D . No one moly coats nuclear bullets :p )

I just listen to what he has to say, and then add "If you'd just learn to shoot what you have, you wouldn't need excuses why you missed with your latest $2000 rig."

I hear ya loud and clear. A 223 WSM would be interesting though

223 WSSM Good and bad

So I beginning to think the cartridge is great but the guns aren't.

My cousin got a Browning A-Bolt with the Boss in 223 WSSM and it shoots crazy awesome! Took a crow just under 300 yds of the roof of my car with a 3200 3-9X50. I could barely see it but the "bang" and "poof" of feather seemed to happen at the same time. Very cool!!!

SOOOOO, I went and got a Win 70 Super Shadow in 223 WSSM. I've had it since October and have put about 300 rounds through it. I've had 2 different scopes on it and have tried many, many different loads with 3 different powders and 50 - 70 gr bullets in it. The best I've come up with is JUST around one inch group once on a windy day. It seems to heat up quickly as the barrel is very light. Yesterday again I got about four 2.5 to 3 inch groups.

I believe in the cartridge, my gun bites! I've loaded up some 68gr Hornady Match HPBT in .5 gr increments from min to max of H380. I'm going to try these and if I can't get sub 1" at 100m, I'm going to contact SIR or Winchester and return it. (I can be quite stubborn!)

HELP!?
Please PM me with any advice.

A final note: I've heard a few guys on WSSM Zone say that Browning replaced their Super Shadow Winchesters with A-Bolts. Perhaps, they will do the same for me?

Im curious about the 223wssm since I have a 223 already and wanted to compare. I couldnt find a reference on either Remingtons site or Winchester. Am I looking in the wrong place or is this going away already?
