Mine arrived in the mail today. I found it cool that it was only 2 numbers off from the serial number of the AR in the pix that Mebiuspower posted! Mine has a different pistol grip though. It's very easy to tell that the (match grade) barrel is made by another company. It has a finer finish but is laser etched with the Schmeisser name and carries the same serial number as the lower and upper. I was a bit put off by the lack of quality in the polymer sights. the front sight blade had all kinds of side to side free play like something you would see on a airsoft gun, not a premium priced European AR-15. The Falke II reflex sight seems to be good quality. It came with a set of English instructions. The Schmeisser came with German only. That's OK, because I can figure out the general idea, but the distributer should probably ensure there is an owners booklet in one of the two languages of the land in which the rifle is being sold.
I gave it a detailed cleaning and inspection when it arrived. there was a bit of heavy grease in the bolt/chamber interface but the gun was quite clean overall. The bolt and carrier has a heavy phosphate finish that is a bit rough and I'm guessing it will smooth out after the first couple hundred rounds fired. Trigger pull is a definite 2 stage affair and breaks cleanly at about 3 pounds. Way better than the Canadian Forces Diemaco ones I'm used to.
Anyways, I'll take it out to the range for a break in tomorrow and I'll hopefully have some pix.
It will be fed a diet of 55gr handloads first and then some 68 gr Hornady HPBT handloads to see what it can group like.
Till then~ out...
