Thoughts on an Epps 1 piece stocked L-E custom from the golden age - 1965

parker hale made some very nicehigh grade conversions with reworked metals that was second to none and beautiful walnut lots of Color in the wood
This is a nice rifle that appeals to some but it’s not everyone’s cup of tea

There are aspects of both that if combined would make for a fantastic rifle... The one piece stock, with PH style rosewood angled fore end and grip caps, roll over cheek piece, the PH style top bridge scope mount. Details like that. Totally agree on the appeal aspect...

That’s a gem!! Going by vague memory here. My grandad (gunsmith/stock maker) use to shoot the #### with Epps over gunstock stuff a lot. they collaborated some cool builds from what I remember. Grandad built a handful of those one piece stocked Lee Enfield’s, I kept his favourite one in 303 in a sweet piece of walnut, I really need to go use it some day.

Thanks for sharing that fine rifle!!

Any chance you could post a picture? If you don't have a way to do it directly, you could send it to me and I'll post it here. Thanks, steelgray

BTW if anyone wants a digital copy of the Epps 1965 custom rifle catalogue I can probably share it with you. No money involved. Just PM me.

No problem at all. These are a few I took a couple summers ago. I think I was the last one to shoot this rifle, would have been back around 1990. I do take it out of the safe to fondle sometimes though lol.

I really like that gun. Very clean lines. The rework of the trigger guard is pretty interesting. Rather Sako-like.

I wonder if going to a one-piece stock has any advantages in terms of bedding/ accuracy?

Very nice rifles!

In my I-wish-I'd-known-better-and-bought-it rifle... there's a Lee Metford #2... Which at the time thought it was a nice sporterizing-job
