Thoughts on AR-15s from Wolverines

So I've pretty much decided on an AR 15 from wolverine. The 16" barrel, flat top and telescopic stock.

I'm curious if anyone has picked one of these (for the low low price of 1195). I'm interested to know if they come with or w/o the fixed front sight post. If no post, do they have a gas block that has a rail.

One last question, can this flat top (if it doesn't come with a fixed front post) have front and rear flip up sights installed?

Better check with Wolverine first to see what they have in stock. Changes to US export regulations has cut their stock down quite a bit.
 
I inquired with Wolverine about a AR on Friday and they did not have any due to US State Dept regulations(call back maybe it changed, ya never know?), and had no set date on when the US would allow more to be exported. So I tried to do the next best thing and buy a stripped "lower" for $178. They had 3 left when I bought mine on Friday, so I guess they now have 2 left. On a side note, they have 0 parts kits left to built the actual lower. They were sold out. I then tried ArmsEast who was also sold out, which was a bummer since his website still to this day says he has stock, but he doesn't. I ended up finding a dealer locally who happened to have one left in stock thankfully.

I'm just happy that I now have a AR registered in my name with the CFC, even though it is only the lower, that's the part that counts in the Govt's mind!

Though I'd mention all this in case you wanted to take the same route as me. Though you could always spend a bit more and get a Stag AR from Armseast for $300 - $400 more than you originally wanted to spend, but you will have a complete rifle, instead of only having half like me LOL

PRICING:
Please be advised that until further notice we will be pricing each shipment to us when we pay for them, this insures that you will all benefit from the best possible pricing, this is the same way that we have worked for all of our XCR shipments. This is due to the tight margins we are working on and the unpredictable exchange rates with our dollar. We will keep a “Notify when available list” but will no longer take any deposits due to these uncertainties. SPECIFICATIONS:
We reserve the right to change specifications for each shipment, this depends entirely on the availability of stock and the manufacture. Most of you will be well aware of the US State Dept changes in export requirements., the latest been that no export licenses will be approved for 5.56 mm NATO but .223 Rem is OK!

ARMALITE:
Still the best value for money but no barrels shorter than 16 inches and no retractable butt stocks and threaded on flash hiders. We are waiting for ArmaLite to source .223 Rem barrels before they can resume shipments of carbine, none in stock at this time. Small parts are still coming, temporally sold out of stripped lowers, next shipment late Nov. A4 stripped uppers and Lower parts kits with Tact Two Stage triggers will be here in a few weeks. We do have Daniel Defence flat top uppers standard pin size and a few with the large pin size in stock.

BUSHMASTER:
We have some standard “Canadian Export” carbines in stock, these have the standard fixed stock, 16 inch barrel, flat top upper, detachable carry handle and two short 5 rd mags. In stock and price is $1,425.00

SABRE DEFENCE:
One 20 inch rifle and a few 16 inch carbines in stock for $1,995.00, these carbines have all the “evil” features. Due to difficulties with chroming barrels future shipments have been delayed, because of this we have secured a small quantity of XR15M4 Commando’s. These have a matt stainless HBAR 1:8 twist, there will be a premium charged for the stainless barrel, I need to confirm but I think these have 11.5 inch barrels expected delivery should be Nov. We will also have some 20 inch rifles with black stainless barrels some light and some heavy profile. Also expected in Nov will be some complete 9 mm carbines and 9 mm Top Half’s watch for details. Good inventory of Sabre Defence 5/30 rd mags at $37.50 each, yes not cheap but these are now the best pinned mags we have ever seen.

I ordered my stripped lower on Friday morning right when I got home from my night shift at the jail. Danielle told me she had 2 left not counting the one I bought, I think I lucked out. They must have sold the other 2 that same day.

Though I have this feeling I'll be stuck with just a complete lower for awhile. Shipping uppers seems to be getting tighter, even though the upper is not actually considered a firearm, though who I am to argue with the Canada/US Govts?

Can they not simply use their standard 5.56 barrels and just change the rollmark? Or are they going to actually rechamber them to .223 specs?
 
Mark Westrom told me personally that ArmaLite would not simply change the stamping, that would be deliberately deceiving the US authorities and ArmaLite will not do that. I can not comment on what other manufacturers may or may not do. Once again those of us who follow the regulations are the ones who suffer the most.

What an absolute pain in the ass. I applaud ArmaLite for not abandoning us Canucks though. I really wish I knew what got the state dept's panties in a bunch over this :rolleyes:
 
A lot of manufacturers and websites have ditched us. I see all too much,"does not ship outside USA". It's getting difficult to get firearms in Canada anymore, we have to struggle to spend money, it's as though we are slowly being squeezed out of options, and then one day we will realize that slowly we lost all of our firearms, with nothing left but whats in the closet. Ooops I hear black helicopters coming again. Better put on my tinfoil hat.

I'm not blaming Wolverine, I'm ranting about the country below us, they seem to forget all the electricity and natural resources we give them, most of their major cities rely on us for power, but they can't chare a few plastic stocks and handgrips? Ridiculous.

Anyone suggesting that a company simply alter a stamp or similar to fain complaince with the law, when in reality break it, will have a VERY short stay here.

Yes DOS has some incredible stupid laws -- yes they where made by some very similar people to those who made stupid Canada gun laws -- however the law of the land is the law of the land.

FYI.
I think the "pefect" Canadian export carbine is a 1:8 Stainless Steel Wylde Chamber 16" midlength.

I second that thought.

You know, there's guys turning FClass barrels up here, couldn't some of them do AR barrels?
 
BC Guy -- the problem with AR barrels - is they have to be threaded and fitted to the bbl extension, while somewhat like the bolt gun barrel into the receiver you then need to drill the gas port at 12' inline with the barrel index pin off the barrel extension. -- nothing requiring rocket science - but a little more annoying than a simple bolt gun barrel.

- Frankly I am pretty shocked noone in Canada has jumped up to do this yet.
