I got some tips and advice from a knowledgeable source... Now I want to hear from a wider scope of users about this rifle in .22 cal.

I will be taking out pests around the cabin most of the time, but will also do a little target shooting too.

What do you think of it?
Thanks for the opinions.

Go on the yellow forum James Kitching for reviews and opinions on almost any air gun....All I've heard has been positive with some guys custom rebarreling them to .25 for larger varmints..........Harold .... an aftermarket 2 stage trigger is available now as well as the choice of using CO2 for plinking option

Just a thought, if you are pest hunting etc in a "casual" way, a PCP may not be the best choice. To refill the reservoir, you need to pump these babies up, and that might be a pain in the but if you've just pulled it out of the closet and have a squirrel loose in the cabin. Might consider a break barrel springer for simplicity. Just a thought.

That Discovery is a nice looking rifle! And, affordable. Anyone have one? What are your impressions of the gun?

Cheers

Discovery

Dido. I'd also like to hear more about these rifles. Everything I've heard so far is promising. I especially like the fact that they are short and light for walking in the brush. Wanted a Diana but am definitely leaning towards the Discovery.

I have one, and I consider it a lot of gun for the money.
I am involved with a small group of poeple here in BC trying to start a Field Target club on the west coast.
For about $400 you get the gun and a high quality air pump. Other PCP guns cost a lot more than that.

Benjamin Discovery

I have one of these rifles and it is scoped with a 4X12 power bug buster. I have the high pressure bicycle pump for refilling. It takes about 65 pumps or so to refill from 1000 PSI, which is not too bad for 20 to 25 shots that will go through 3/4 " plywood @ 25 yrds and blow a hole out the back side about the size of a dime:eek: . I'd have to give it 2 thumbs up :D.

Get the .22 if hunting is on the menu .Subsonic pellets are inaccurate unless they are heavy weights........................nothing you'll find at Ukranian Tire........Harold

Benjamin Discovery opinions?

Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about this gun? It seems too good to be true, considering the price compared to other PCP guns. Observations?

I have been thinking about buying a Discovery but not sure if I should get a .22 or .177.
x2
I like .177 but the efficiency of the .22 means you get a lot more shots per charge. Those high pressure pumps take some work and the less you have to use them the better! Plus they do smack harder at range than a .177
Although they are a bit expensive when you factor in the pump or divers bottle. I think the lack of recoil and inherent accuracy of PCP beats spring rifles hands down. Shame they are so much more expensive.

I had one and it shot well, had lots of power. Never cronyed it but they were moving good. I sold it cause it was not getting used, regretted it after as I usually do but can't keep em all.

Well, I can say first hand now, that at 10m it has devastatingly shocking power for light game.... the .22 pellets plow right through 3/4" of pine and another 3/4 " of plywood with ease at that range.

Should be equally effective out to 25m. Accuracy is better than I can shoot, (I was drilling everything into an inch with the "open" sight at 10m)...and recoil of course is zero. I will be scoping it this weekend, and then look out!

Although they are a bit expensive when you factor in the pump or divers bottle.

You can still get the package which includes the pump, for under 500.00 I think.

Popcan the only issue I have with the pumps (aside from the effort needed to pump them up) is the problem with moisture. The compression process naturally causes condensation. I had a Swedish made pump which worked well, but the moisture traps are a potential pitfall. After a few years the aluminium housing combined with the steel balls in the "trap" corroded badly and screwed it up. It is worth making sure that you keep an eye on this. With a divers bottle the air should be "dried" This was a few years back and maybe they are not so prone to it. I notice that the replacement for the steel balls used glass beads. Nevertheless it is something I am a bit wary of. I am hoping they sell the pump separately as I need one for my Falcon.

If you're concerned about the moisture getting into the rifle, these guns can use nitrogen...I have an Mrod and thats the way I'm going...the gun/pump combo is the way to go...I wished they had offered it when I got my Mrod.

love mine, very light gun for the field, and lots of what it takes to get the job done, I found it short in length of pull, a slip on recoil pad with some duct tape, and a little ipod hold to cover up the tape , that holds pellets, works.
Topped with a turret tasco 6x24 in lynx rings and its a tack driver to 50 meters on small game.:dancingbanana: a sweet spot 1700 - 1500 psi where its scary accurate...
