Thanks for all the info and opinions, everyone. I pulled the pin and got a Discovery with pump a couple of days ago. Initial impressions are generally good. The fit and finish didn't thrill me, but for the money it seems quite acceptable. I removed the sights and mounted a Bushnell 6-18 AO scope in Millett rings that I had lying around. The scope focuses down to less than 10 yards so seemed a good choice. The trigger is a bit heavier than ideal, but nicely crisp and shootable. I love the light overall gun weight.
The only pellets I've tried so far are H&N Barrakudas. Pumping up to 2000fps gives me 40 shots before I get down to 1000fps. Accuracy of the first groups (10 shots @ 50 yards) ran around 2.5 inches, and by the end of the first tin of pellets I was getting 10 @ 50 in about 1.5 inches. The virtually recoil-free PCP shooting sensation is a lot different than the springer airguns that I used to shoot frequently.
So far, so good! Three days of PCP shooting and I'm already thinking of getting an Airforce Condor!
