Evening all, I've been shooting skeet for just about 3 months now and am working towards my first 25/25. Shot a 22 this past weekend and am well on my way :)

When I finally hit my first 25 I'm planning on treating myself to a quality OU (currently shooting an SX4 which I am enjoying) so I'm wondering if anyone can share their thoughts and experiences regarding the Citori vs the Cynergy. Is the fit similar? Parts availability? Anything else you might think is relevant, I'm all ears.

Thanks

And don’t limit yourself to just those two guns. Consider high value Beretta’s and Perazzi etc from the used market.

Have a look @ EE. Have a friend that you know is knowledgeable help you through the long list.

My $.02

You make a good point. I'm actively working on getting access to EE, but also trying to keep my budget around the 3k range.

I have both ,the Citori is imho a nicer target gun while I prefer the Cynergy as a hunter. But I agree with the above sentiments do not limit yourself ,Beretta makes a fine piece and the older 682 are great guns.

I have owned both, fit wise, they are pretty much the same. There are a lot more Citori shotguns around, so parts may be easier to find in stock. I do find the Citori much easier to assemble and disassemble, as I store my shotguns broken down in cases. Overall, I prefer the Citori.

Strictly for Trapshooting, and I don’t hunt.

Just my experience, of course.

Had a 30/34 Cynergy Trap Combo Laminate.
Had a trigger issue on just the upper barrel. Weak ejection about half the time and the occasional failure to reset the trigger. Opening/Closing the gun fixed that. It was fine with the Unsingle barrel.
Local gunsmith wouldn’t work on it as he wasn’t familiar with Cynergy trigger mech. Not a dig against him, but I’m now having to drive to a gunsmith who is. I did find an authorized Browning Repair Facility, but I won’t say the issue was ever fixed (this gunsmith says he could not reproduce the issue).
Laminate forearm split, and Browning very willingly sent replacement. I did not think the forearm iron was well designed, with only two screws holding it in place. Also did not like that, broken-down, the ejectors stick out under tension.
Also had this weird issue where the comb would rise after shooting—requiring constant adjustment, sometimes even during a shoot. Yes, it would shoot out/up, so adding washers did nothing. And, yes, it was tightened.

Although the Cynergy was bought used, the Browning Authorized Repair Facility (gun shop in a small Alberta town) did not charge me for any of the work (no parts replaced).

Now have a 725 Trap.
Trigger has been good to me, and the gun overall.
I much prefer that the ejectors are not under tension and can be stored collapsed.
3 screws hold the forearm iron in place.
Ejector to Extractor mod is done and works well (you replace springs on the 725, and remove parts on the Cynergy for this mod).

I don’t like that the receiver floor isn’t solid, like on the Cynergy. :)

If you’re set on a Browning, get the 725.

Citori CXS is a reasonable crossover target/field gun. People seem to fit either Browning or Beretta better. The target Citoris are 14 3/4" lop and the field guns are 14 1/4" so that's a consideration. The 725 sporters are also a higher comb than the field models. Lotta variables within the family.
No cynergy experience. They don't appeal to me aesthetically.

Hi Andy,

You're most welcome.

I will also say that another club member—who bought a different Cynergy Trap Combo (wood furniture) seemed to have a much better experience with his, than I did with mine.
I really wanted to like the gun and really liked the idea of a Combo. Both our sets were from the same owner (both were on consignment).

Alas, I was bugged by (I'm somewhat OCD ) the fit of the forearm to each barrel set not being tight, and having a bit of play.
Certainly nothing to affect shooting, but at this price range, you only get one forearm (not a Perazzi High Tech with 2 fitted forearms).

My experience with my Citori 725 has been better than my Cynergy—and I think I'm the third owner of the 725 and it even has a tiny dinged corner on the receiver (again, cosmetic), but the price was too good to pass up.

Appreciate you sharing your experiences. Thanks very much for the in-depth reply.

Cheers
