Thoughts on CZ 600 trail?

I’m kind of interested in picking one of these up in .223. I like the idea of a small easy to pack rifle. I off road a lot in my SXS but it’s not the easiest vehicle to pack guns in with everything else I take out to the forest with me. I just bought a 14” supernova for this reason but I’d also like to have a rifle for some longer range plinking.
I did a search on the forum and came across an older thread on this rifle. One member claimed it’s a 2 MOA rifle at best. Has there been any improvement in that department over the last 5 years?
And I’m assuming the .223 version takes AR mags. Can we still get the 10 round LAR mags here? Or am I mistaken and it takes a different mag? Ideally I’d like to be able to get 10 rounds mags for it.
Anything else I should know about this rifle before pulling the trigger on it?

Stock is wobbly, but if you load it consistently you'll get acceptable results.
Yes 10-rd mags are G2G, I recommend CrossMags as PMags seem to have a problem with the bolt lugs shaving material off the feed lips and it gets packed into the firing pin channel, causing light strikes.
This is NOT a precision bolt rifle, but you can run it as fast as a Lee-Enfield and get hits on deer-size targets.
I bought it to use up my stockpiled .223 and AR mags. With a LPVO and a foregrip it is fun and light.
It will also serve me for hunting, as we have tiny deer and move between areas a lot - quick load and unload is a bonus for getting in/out of vehicles, as is the compactness. .223 with a good hunting bullet (i.e. 62gr Fusion) is more than sufficient, and you can buy relatively cheap range ammo.
Reply or PM if you want some pictures or more info.

TimberWolf_3063 : what do you suggest is the big reason the Trail is not more accurate?

Is it the chamber jump? The wobbly stock? The 16"barrel harmonics?

I don’t hunt, this would strictly be for plinking/target shooting out to 300 yards or so. I really like the look of this rifle and admittedly I’m a bit of a CZ fanboy. And the fact that it packs up nice a small making it easy to transport in my SXS is a bonus.
At the moment I think if I go ahead with it I’d likely put on some iron sights or do a Vortex prisim 3x to keep it as light as possible.

If you don’t mind posting pics I’d love to see them.

Outside of the floppy telescopic stock, I hear good things about the Trail. It is a small-form hunting rifle that travels well on an ATV or in a large backpack.

I am thinking of buying one in 7.62 x 39
I’m tempted to get it in 7.62x39 but I already have a CZ 527 in that caliber. I do love that cartridge though.
But I feel like my collection is missing a .223 rifle

Nice rifles. So 2 MOA with handloads? Just curious what bullet weight you’re using? I don’t reload so I’ll be using factory ammo. My understanding is the 1:7 twist tends to favour the heavier bullets.
I know I can buy ammo with the heavier bullets. But there’s less options and it’s more expensive than 55 grain bullets.

Agreed.

We working on a picatinny adaptor to remedy that stock issue!

What about an MRA Renegade? Has a few different barrel options and they are canadian
Appreciate the suggestion. But it’s not quite what I’m after. I’m interested in the CZ 600 because of how small it is with the stock collapsed to make it easier to pack in my SXS.
I also don’t care for the looks of it. Seems like it’s trying a little too hard to look like an AR

Mk262= 77 gr bullet

And, the 2 moa thing wasn't really ammo dependent - I've had similar results with 55gr and 62gr ball. I was curious, but I should have waited - having learned to shoot the rifle and load the stock consistently, I feel I would have better results with good ammo now.

Bottom line, the compactness drew me as well, and I like the lightness and feel of it. Aside from the mag shaving/light strike issue (remedied with a bolt disassembly and cleaning), it runs and is fun for a bolt.

Troy par becomes restricted with a folding stock unfortunately.
MDT makes a folding stock chassis for Remington and Savage rifles, tho pricey.
I appreciate the suggestions. But I don’t care for any of the rifles that are trying to look like an AR-15. Also seems to be out of stock most places anyways.
That Hera H6 is “interesting” but it’s not for me.
So far the only other rifle that I’d be interested in is the Ruger American Scout. But I haven’t found one in stock anywhere yet.

Here’s a thread I started when fiddling with my cz600+ trail..

https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/threads/cz-600-trail-stock-options.2564287/

I found it a great, compact rifle. Light, easy to handle, quick to cycle. Works great with 10 round cross mags. Folds up small and fits in a bag/Atv easily.
Did you notice an improvement in accuracy with the stock that had a more ridged lockup?
Some seem to think the lack in accuracy is partly due to flimsy stock. I know the other part is how the action is mated to the chassis. But I haven’t seen anyone come up with a solution for that yet.
For me I’d probably be fine with it in stock form. I only shoot paper to sight my rifles in. For the most part all I’ll be doing with it shooting a 12” gong at 300 yards and pop cans at 100. So I don’t really need it to be a MOA rifle. Would be cool if it is, but it’s not required for my uses.
The reason I’m drawn to this rifle is the size and I really dig how it looks with a 10 round mag in it.
I’m not a fan at all of the M4 stock on anything other than an AR. I know why people put them on their rifles. There is a practical use for them with the adjustable LOP. I just don’t care for the look. And if I’m being honest looks are probably 75% of why I’m drawn to a particular firearm.
