I ran the blue boxes of federal through my GSG 1911 with some success, I am looking for thoughts and opinions on the red boxes of "Federal Lightning .22LR 40gr Solid High Velocity"

Appreciate the input :D

Crapolla IME... I really like 711B in a few of my rifles... Some semi pistols like 510... But I find it dirty... Hard to beat CCI Mini-Mag solids... Try a box... Perfect cycling and consistent accuracy.

I got mini mags but the last time I found them I was 3 hours from home visiting family and they where 11.99 for 100 rounds... They indeed are good cost effective they ain't

You need a new dealer... They are $7/100 around here... And worth it... You can buy cheaper, but how do you put a price on enjoying a shooting session as opposed to being frustrated by a shooting session?

When I'm paying half that price for bulk ammo, a few duds per 500, doesn't ruin my day.:)

I need a dealer period, Only places in town are Wallmart and crappy tire... next closest place is an hour away.

I find i get pretty good results out of the bricks of the 50 packs for 25.00... the bulks of 500-555 not so much. Like blazers for example, in the 50 packs it works great so i bought 4 bulks of 525, the bulk gives me feed problem after feed problem... It is not fun shaking out dud rounds on the firing line.
Really what is the point in getting the 525 for 29.99 and shaking out 25-50 rounds when the brick of 10 boxes of 50 works flawlessly for the same price Just need to find a balance between cost and reliabiliy.

My saving grace is that my 597 is not picky and will chew through just about anything, wish the same could be said for the wifies 715T... So at least i can buy and try on the GSG & 715T knowing if all else fails i can feed it to the Remy.

What?! Wow, they must have over a 100% markup!

Here, it's 7.99 for 100 rounds or $28.99 for 375 rounds.

That's 7.99c per round and 7.73c per round. You're paying 12c per round!!!

For what it's worth, I find CCI Green Tag and Federal MATCH to be the most accurate with federal match getting the edge.

Mini mags are reliable but just not that accurate in my opinion. I've had better luck with CCI Standard Velocity.

The problem is not a few duds... the problem is poor function across the board... in my levers, I shoot bulk Blazer's... never have a problem with them... but in my semi's I spend a little extra for CCI SV's and Mini-Mag solids... I want to enjoy my time shooting not get frustrated by it.

No joke! I thought it was ridiculous but I wanted to try them so I bought 2 sleeves no doubt they cycle fine but I like to keep my cost down around 5.5 to 7 cents per round including tax

I shoot CCI SV (just as accurate as Green Tag IME) and Wolf MT and SK St.+ in my target rifles... but semi pistols are generally tuned for HV ammo... IME they do not function at peak levels with subs and SV's...

My cost for MM solids is 7 cents/round after tax... shop around...

I am having pretty good luck with winchester super X HV

28.70 per brick @ Walmart including tax =.057 each

Wonder how the federal lightning stack up compared to the winchester HV in reliabiliy

26.20 per brick including tax =.052 each

The federal lightning is cheaper just not sure if it is cheap enough to risk adding more ammo to the Remy pile...though faced with a shortage a guy likes to have options...

Ran the math on the mini mags finding them for 9.10 including tax(free shipping from canam) online for 100 rounds =.091 each. Can't feed the wife's beast that, she chews through 500 + in an afternoon at the range with her 715t...

I have found the blazer 40 grain lead solids (525 bulk) feed great in all my semis (gsg, p226 classic, mosquito, 10/22, SW 15-22)

Very Few FTF. I never tried lightning, but read online its not the best
