Thoughts on Girsan MC28?

Yeah perhaps it is junk..I can't say, havn't shot it yet, but I've heard overwhelming good reviews from the online community. It is affordable because the CAD is strong in Turkey. I have tried Turkish Hatsan shotguns that shot very well, so I am not quick to discount this company. Price is not always reflective of value. But sounds like you have tried it? The trigger doesn't sound like the best, but its striker fired, what do you expect :p

If thi is your first pistol then you dont know what a good pistol feels like. Go ahead and buy it, you'll regret it and wont be able to sell it.

I have one. I've had afew pistols over the years. But I'm not a pistol guy just bang off afew rounds a year. Anyway other then the stated triggers that can be worked with I like it and it points nice in my hands

Hey, I bought a Girsan MC28 as my first handgun! Can definitly tell where the cheapness comes from. My barrel got stuck on the takedown lever leading to a pretty weird problem... Happened to another MC28 owner on Reddit as well... How could this happen is beyond me but I sent the MC28 in for warranty 2 weeks ago. Guess it works as a first gun for me since I was on a student's budget but I definitly want a higher quality firearm now.

Fantastic 9mm. You can make the trigger better. Compared to a glock or a m&p... hundreds in price difference its a good sacrifice..it eats any ammo as well. $289 can't get much better. Id rather a slightly worse trigger then to spend $600 more for bassically the same thing with an arguable better trigger pull. Once you work it in and figure out the reset its fine.

My first purchase was a Girsan MC28. I bought that one based on the decent reviews, because it was on sale new for $350, because the action felt good mechanically - smooth with nicely placed controls (didn't have to stretch or fumble to reach anything or field strip) and because I didn't want to spend too much in case I found pistol shooting wasn't to my liking. I'm happy I bought it. As others have said it's not going to provide a premium trigger experience but once you get the correct backstrap to fit your hand and learn the correct depth to place your finger on the trigger it seems acceptable. In any case I wouldn't get much if I tried to sell it so I might as well just keep it - owner of the store says it's a good gun to start with because it's cheap and because it forces you to focus on technique and also because it's a good gun to give to guests you might take to the range while keeping the good one for yourself!

I see others have had problems with disassembly and with the mag fit - I've had none of that, works perfectly and the trigger gets better with use.

Second purchase was a Walther Q5 Match Combo with a Shield red dot. Bought this one mainly because the built in red dot offers a much better sight picture (for me anyway). The trigger on the Walther is fantastic, the recoil is less, and the red dot is vastly superior to iron sights. Of course the gun costs almost 5 times as much as the Girsan.

After getting the Walther I bought a cheap ebay laser to attach to the pic rail on the Girsan - much improved shooting experience.

Don't know if you bought one yet, but you should be able to find one here for 300, so I would expect like me you would pay 250. For that price you will not be disappointed. Personally I like mine more than my Glock 17.

Took mine out today with a guest at the range. Surprisingly accurate gun with the proper technique. The guest actually preferred it over my Shadow 2 but that’s likely due to the simplicity of controls and weight. The trigger on this is wearing in very nicely now.

I had one for a while and liked it. But got an oppoertunity to trade it for a rifle that was worth more. Otherwise I would have kept it. The only thing I didn't like was the trigger but it may have improved with time. I had only put a couple hundred rounds through it. I think if you can get it for $300 or less it's a great buy.
