Looking at a Marlin 925 for a buddy as his first rifle, as he just got his PAL. What can you guys tell me about these little guys? They look very similar to a Savage Mk II. Are they reasonably accurate? Any issues with them?

I used to own one. Pretty accurate rifles for the price, their barrels are medium/heavy compared to other brand's sporter barrels. Microgroove rifling is good too. The trigger pull is heavy, but can be lowered with the pen spring trick. Stock sights aren't very good, but it's drilled and tapped and grooved for a scope. Downside is the mag well is plastic I believe.

I own one, shoots great. Right now Im having issues with it and need to get it looked at, I think theres something wrong with the spring but its a great rifle.

I have one of these rim fires, however mine was the 925 R (synthetic stock). I found it to be very accurate and as mentioned, the barrel is heavier. I didn't bother scoping it as I use it for Grouse and for most shots, the open sights were more than adequate.
