Thoughts on over under Shotguns?

Lets not be snarky about Kim Rhode having a new worth of $2 million. Without sponsors it would soon be all gone. High expenses is the nature of high level competition.
In this day and age, a net worth of $2 million mostly means a nice house in a big city.
 
So true!

Olympians don't normally make a ton of money, only the top ones that get endorsements do and it's expensive staying at the top. Just her ammo bill alone is almost double the average salary in the US, that would explain why she stuck with her Mx12 for eighteen years!

Shooting at that rate adds up to $50,000-$100,000 in annual ammo costs. Wouldn't be feasible without sponsorships....unless one has deep pockets on their own
 
Let's not kid ourselves its a well off family.

She has a dozen or so muscle cars and she isn't sleeping in them to save hotel money going to shoots, her accomplishments go with out question but this cost Daddy, Mommy plenty...

Sounds like someone is jealous of someone else’s good fortune, hard work and natural talent.

Money well spent IMO.

It's her money or families money they earned it and can spend it how they see fit, just don't think for a second she is a starving athlete or ever was.

She could be of average talent but worked harder than anyone else in the sport?

True, but she made the claim in an interview and it was put on paper, in fact I've seen the claim in a couple of articles now so if it wasn't true then I'm sure some one would be calling her out on it. I'm certainly not saying that she did or didn't, her words not mine.
It's a free country though and you don't have to believe it if you don't want to.
 
Don't know about you guys, of course.
But I could have money or sponsors, shoot much more than I do, and still not come close to Kim Rhode's accomplishments.
I do not understand why some people just cannot celebrate ability and accomplishment.

That reminds me of a time when I had a small business that was working out fairly well. People used to say to me "your so lucky!" and my standard reply was that luck had nothing to do with it at all but hard work, borrowing money and perseverance had everything to do with it!

Not to mention 12-16 hour days 7 days a week more than likely if anything like ours

I no longer hunt or shoot any of the clays guns with anything but. Haven't shot a pump or auto now for a few years and sold my last a couple weeks ago. For trap I use a dedicated single shot for singles and handicap and an o/u for doubles. On the skeet field I would think it's been at least 7-9 years since I've shot a pump or auto and though I love the look of a well designed and built SxS I am not fond of the feel of the small forend in my hand and even less fond of the landing runway sighting plane. I much prefer the feel and sighting plane of an o/u.
 
O/U’s usually balance with more weight out front which is ideal for must clay sports but I find that I’m an instinctitve shooter and single barrel guns swing/point faster for me. I have a lovely 686 20ga that is shoot pretty well but never as well as my semis.

To put in perspective the relative popularity of O/U's (and semi's) vs SxS's for clay games, today I shot sporting clays in Shakespeare. Nice club. Out of a field of 85 shooters I was the only one shooting a SxS. Despite this perceived handicap I still miraculously shot highest score in the SxS division to win a prize. Gloat, gloat. Yay, me.

Why are you gloating, you also shot the lowest score with a SxS, and finished last in the SxS division:):)

Weight out front is ideal for long crossing shots but not so ideal for fast close in targets. Since we often see both presentations then the trick is to get a gun that is a good compromise for both.
