Well after lengthy research and first hand experience with a friend's PA 08 I decided to buy an upland version in 20 gauge.
It arrived to day and I noticed the following right off, 12 ga frame ( it is actually dimensionally bigger than my Express 12) front bead installed slight off to left. Small crack in wrist from rear of trigger guard. Incredibly it points and carries just great! I decided not to spend 50.00 to send it back for exchange and went shooting.
Just under 100 rounds of light, medium and 3" MAGNUM lead loads. Not a bobble. Action smoothed nicely and it shot where it looked.
I will learn to live with the bead and I have already fixed the crack. NOTE: my only complaint was that Weatherby did not design the 20 on a 20 frame. BUT after shooting and carrying I think a 20 frame would be way too light to handle and shoot. ( I estimate this gun @ 6 lbs)
Wood is average, not plain but not fancy like some I have seen. Overall I will keep it and shoot the heck out of it and maybe kill some grouse and wood #### with it. If you are considering one go for it they are really decent guns. It does suck to have to mail order guns before you can do a hands on.

I would write a complaint letter to weatherby about the craftsmanship. If you read their owners manual they speak so highly of their firearms. I wouldn't accept a new gun with any nicks or screw ups.

I want to be the one that nicks it, scratches it, drops it, screws it up.

Did you inquire if the company/supplier would provide a discount?

It's too bad your PA08 didn't come mint. Two months ago I picked up a SA-08 20gauge for the fiance and it's perfect.

Like I mentioned in the Op I am only making observations not complaints. The retailer does offer an exchange policy ( no refund) the problem is shipping the gun back will add another 50.00 to the cost of a 360.00 shotgun. I am not sure if the retailer will pick up the cost of mailing the new gun back to me. If not another 50.00 so you can see that part of the reason I selected the PA 08 was the reasonable cost if it requires another 50 to 100 to make it right it is no longer reasonable priced. It is a RELIABLE gun and I have it fixed to my satisfaction now. Still not happy with the full size 12 frame but I can always trade or sell it if I have to. My main reason for the OP was let other know that the frame is 12 not 20 ga. I think I will write a letter to Roy and see what they say.

shipping shouldn't be your problem. we do have retail laws in canada. that gun should have never left the factory and surely never been given to you as the product you ordered. you have 30 days to return ANY product with FULL refund. it costs $27 to ship a gun from and to anywhere in canada not $50.

I bought the 12ga version of the PA-08 NIB from another member here. It was great when I recievied it, but it too developed a hairline crack at the wrist after the first box of shells at a local gravel pit. I blame it on the stock bolt being over tightened at the factory. It was very tight and hard to remove. I would recomend to anyone buying one of these to first remove the stock and then retighten hand tight. Other than that the gun is great. Light weight, very smooth action, and good looking.

Overtight stock bolt is likely the culprit DMS as the crack was not on any fault or grain line in the stock. 04Dram i wish I could ship every gun across Canada for 27.00. Some I have shipped to the east coast have pushed 60.00. Depends on weight and dimension. Add insurance and signature requirement and up goes the price.
