anybody have any experience with these? i looked at one in 454 casual the other day. couldn't help notice the goofy safety, can a guy get rid of it? the stock also looks like it would need to be stripped and refinished.

it also had fiber optic sights which i dion't care for either.

anybody have one? leave it as is or modify it?

I've got an old one in .44 mag (got it here) that I LOVE. Shoots mags and specials without a hitch. The actions could use some smoothing but that's easy enough. I think they're a fantastic deal.

I have a Rossi Puma in .44Mag I have used successfully on deer and I used to carry it spring time fishing in Ontario, just to be sociable, if a bear happened by.
I now use it for a back up CAS rifle.
In spite of a couple of thousand rounds put through it, I find the action remains a little stiff.
It works just fine but accuracy wise, it's fussy about the type of cartridge shot from it.
I've had chances to sell it off, (I have an 1866 Uberti Yellow Boy i use in CAS), but I think I'll hang on to it.

I have ordered this rifle from the U.S. through Questar here on CGN (I was not able to locate one locally).....

It's a Rossi Puma 92 .454 Casull 16" carbine SS With Hiviz sights....I hope to have it mid-January....It's my present to myself....I plan on taking it along when I fly out to wilderness areas....

I'm looking forward to some load development for it, as well as some range time....

Here is an interesting article about the .45 (long) Colt and .454 Casull cartridges in the Puma, and a few other Lever Rifles....

Mig25 - did U look at one at a retailer out your way??? If so, I would be interested in one for myself too. So maybe U could let me and others here know who is stocking these in Canada now. I know the importer/wholesaler is Caldwell Industries in BC.

Thanks

The rifles are being imported by Caldwell's in North Vancouver. You can't buy direct from them but you can get your local gun dealer to source it there for you.

I have a s/s 20" 454 Casull on order right now.
