Thoughts on Rem 11-87 Super Mag Sportsman

Thinking of one of these, but don't here much of their functionality in the field.

How are they with functioning 2-3/4" ammo, especially trap loads?

How do they function with heavy 2-3/4" stuff?

All feedback is appreciated.

I haven't used one of the SuperMags, but I used an 11-87 Premier for several years. Great gun that shot very well. Never had a single issue with it. It would reliably cycle everything I put in it from 2 3/4" target loads to 3" magnum duck/goose loads.

While I haven't used the Supermag I have heard a fair bit of negatives about it.

I used a Mossberg 835 (3 1/2" chamber) for a couple of years but after the first opening day I never used 3 1/2" shells again. Too expensive and they simply didn't perform as well as the 2 3/4' and 3" I had been using. Oh and they pounded the living daylights out of my shoulder.

Ive got a sportsman but not a sugermag.. and its hands down one of the best shotguns I've ever owned. Ive put about 400 rounds of 2 3/4 winchester super target loads without any problems.

I use it for skeet / trap though, not sure if that's the response your looking for?
