Thoughts on Remington 722

I have the opurtunity to buy a Remington 722 with a 10x weaver installed. anythought on the rifle? It's chambered for the 6mm remington cartridge.

If it's the original barrel it will be stamped 244 Rem and it's probably a 12" twist. Some will shoot 100 gr bullets OK...and some will not. The 721/722's were the forerunner to the current Model 700. The safety levers and triggers are different but interchangable. Any barrel from a 700,M7 etc will fit a 722.

For about $ 400 max. all-in, in very good condition ... maybe

I'd ask to shoot it first ... if it will keep factory ammo in 1-1/2" at
100 yards, there's probably some potential.

Make sure the extractor is working properly. Replacements are a problem.
